FME and Business Intelligence: Visualization of Electricity Consumption

An electricity company gets periodically electricity consumption reports in Excel sheets out of their system. The monthly reports contain electricity consumption of each district of Helsinki. FME provided an easy way to process the Excel data automatically, merge it with city district geometries and visualize the data with charts and pie charts in PDF files based on different criteria. Thus the users get an access to the PDF files, and can see, how the electricity consumption behaves.

In the coming decades, the Internet will change the methods and processes of industry – just as it has changed the behavior of con- sumers in recent decades. Nearly a third of the turnover of industrial companies in Finland, €39 billion, is generated by products that depend on software. ABB and our products and solutions – frequency converters, robots, and industrial automation and energy systems – have been improving the processes of our customers for decades. The gains in capacity, productivity and energy use have been dozens of percent. As a result, our customers have improved their competi- tiveness and their production has become more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. The Internet of Things, Services and People is about more than just improving productivity by using intelligent products, sensors and analysis of measurement data. The industrial Internet is a shift from factory-level solutions to the Internet. In practice, this means connecting people, services and things over the Internet, which opens up entirely new opportunities, including the development of the service business. Immense industrial opportunities 1712 – Industry 1.0 Thomas Newcome builds the first steam engine. Industry 4.0 From steam engines to smart factories 1870 – Industry 2.0 Electricity is used for industrial production. 1969 – Industry 3.0 Programmable logic. So what role will people play in this industrial paradigm shift? Increasing automation has freed people from backbreaking, dangerous and tiresome routine tasks. This trend will continue as people, services, and things become interconnected through the Internet: people’s responsibilities will shift to knowledge work requiring expertise, process control, and decision-making. Next- generation robots, such as the ABB's YuMi, will be able to work side-by-side with people. The Internet of Things, Services and People still has its challenges, with the main ones being the massive amount of sensor data and the need for data security. All parties will have to cooperate to overcome these challenges. ABB participates actively in the Finn- ish FIMECC research program, which is developing expertise and practices for future industrial service businesses. Mainly in the reduction of multiplier power and area consumption it can play an important role in high performance of any digital indication processing system. within this paper, mainly centre of attention on optimizing and increased performance by reduction in power consumption in propose of the fused Add-Multiply (FAM) operator. This implements a new technique by straight recoding of sum two numbers in Modified Booth (MB) form. In this paper implemented a new and efficient structured technique by straight recoding of sum of two numbers by considering existing modified booth (MB) technique. The new technique is implemented by three new dissimilar schemes by integrating them within existing FAM plans. The performance of the proposed three different schemes with the implementation of new model carry select adder (K-adders) gives reduction in conditions of critical delay, hardware complication and power utilization while comparing with the existing AM design.

Ponderosa has used AutoCAD Map 3D and Microsoft SQL Server as its primary GIS for over 10 years. Having DWG objects stored with real world coordinates has allowed Ponderosa to manage its telecom infrastructure by providing accurate locations for underground locators, footage information to qualify available services as well as detailed maps for engineering and planning purposes. In the past 5-years, regulatory requirements have relied more and more on GIS data to support reports that require a variety of GIS layer overlay including Census Blocks, Census Tracts and Zip code Boundaries. Limited GIS tools in AutoCAD have proven to be inefficient and time consuming in running some the required queries and analysis. This class will focus on how FME's robust GIS querying functionality was used to save hundreds of hours in querying and analyzing GIS data stored in AutoCAD Map 3d and SQL Server.
