5. • A transformative advancement in the field of sensor technology has been
the development of sensor systems.
• The term Smart Sensor was actually invented in the mid-1980.
• SENSOR is a device that detects and responds to some type of input
from the physical environment such as light, heat etc… or any one of a
great number of other environmental phenomena”
• Sensor devices that are “small in size and able to sense, process data, and
communicate with each other, typically over an RF channel.

9. LIGHT DEPENDENT RESISTOR: Light-controlled variable resistor,
The resistance of a photo-resistor decreases with increasing incident light
intensity
TEMPERATURE SENSOR(LM35):Precision integrated-circuit
temperature sensors, with an output voltage linearly proportional to the
Centigrade temperature. Linear + 10 mV/°C Scale Factor.
CARBON DIOXIDE SENSOR(MQ-7):A carbon dioxide sensor or CO2
sensor is an instrument for the measurement of carbon dioxide gas.
Sensitive components consist of 2 parts: 1}Heating circuit having time
control function.2}The signal output circuit; it can accurately respond
changes of surface resistance of the sensor.
COLOR SENSOR(TCS3200):The TCS3200 programmable colour light-
to-frequency converters that combine configurable silicon photodiodes and
a current-to-frequency converter. The output is a square wave (50% duty
cycle) with frequency directly proportional to light intensity

REAL TIME
 THE INTERFACE EXTRACTS DATA FROM THE
SENSORS, COMMANDS THE ACTUATOR, AND
PROVIDES A DATA COMMUNICATION INTERFACE TO
THE CENTRAL CONTROL UNIT.
 THE GATEWAY WILL COLLECT RESULTS FROM THE
SENSORS AND RELAY THEM TO THE DATABASE.
 SMART SENSORS IMPLEMENTATION TO LPC-2129
NOT ONLY ACQUIRES DATA BUT ALERTS THE
CONTROL UNIT TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTIONS TO
PERFORM

 Portable and can be changed as per our
requirement unlike the Wired ones.

simultaneous data transfer.

15.  Remote monitoring and alerting.
 Store and forward applications like TEMPERATURE,CO2 monitoring
require a long distance wireless link with network coverage over its
entire operation area.
 Environment monitoring in closed loop area like boilers .
 Chemical and Pharmacy companies use color sensor to detect color
using manufacture of drugs.

16. • The main intend of interfacing diverse primary sensors with the smart
sensor interface unit using Serial peripheral interface and wireless
communication has been achieved successfully.
• The Colour, Temperature, CO2 and LDR sensor are used provides linear
results experimentally.
• The RF module provides the maximum line of sight 30 meters range for
wireless communication.
• The central monitoring system which is consisting of Master & slave in
the smart sensor platform reduces the human efforts and cost to a large
extent.
• These dynamic features of smart sensors can provide the critical data to
the end user in a more rapid, reliable, robust, economical and efficient way
