3. Marlins Retractable Roof
Marlins is the nation’s first retractable roof
baseball park engineered to withstand 146 mph
winds. (structural design by Walter P Moore)
4. Retractable roof features:
Consists of three moving panels skirted by 2 fixed panels that achieve
the spaceship-like shape, of total weight 7,800 tons of steel
Upper panel: 578 ft x 260 ft and 2 lower panels: 548 ft x 145 ft
Moved by traction system powered by ten 76-hp electric drive motors

Miami Marlins is the first Silver LEED
certified ballpark with a retractable roof in
the country .
