I brought two of my friends with me Anabelia and Abigail We are senior nutrition students at TWU. And we are going to talk to you about yummy foods. We will be learning about what snacks are, we will have some special guests that need our help to understand if they belong to the healthy or non-so healthy food family. We will be playing with them and having fun by making our own snack plate. We will have some coloring to do as well!.. Finally but not least we will be Tasting YUM! - Food is very important for our bodies and we all eat food everyday to keep our bodies running. -Throughout the day we eat 3 meals right? Can someone name the 3 meals we eat? (the first one is breakfast?....lunch ... dinner...) - Even when we eat regular meals during the day, there will still be times in between that can feel hungry, especially if we have been playing. Snacks are foods that we eat to give us energy until the next meal - Why are snacks important?..... (Next slide)
There are 3 reasons: #1 - Snacks are important because they can help us grow! Remember when you were a baby and you were this tall (show with hand) now you are tall. The snacks that we eat help us grow.
#2 - Snacks are important because they can help us build strong bones! Who here likes to run and play? Did you know that we need strong bones to be able to run and play! - Some snacks that can help you build strong bones are dairy foods like milk, cheese, and yogurt
#3 - Snacks are important because they help us have a strong and healthy heart! - Does anyone know what the heart in our body does? Our heart is a very important because it helps pump blood around our bodies. and If we have a strong and healthy heart we can have more energy to play. It makes us feel good too!
Now we are going to help some of my friends resolve their identity crisis. They cannot decide if the belong to the healthy or not so healthy family of snack ingredients.
