2. Introduction
The Nagpur Central Museum,
Popularly known as Ajab Bangla,
is located in Nagpur,
Maharashtra, India.
Established in 1863
It holds important artifacts such
as dinosaur’s fossils, coins,
ancient inscriptions, sculptures,
arms, etc.
Oldest and largest museum in
the Central India region.
3. HISTORY
The idea of founding Museum at Nagpur was taken up
probably on 27/10/1862 in response to the activities of the
antiquarian society of the Central Provinces.
The museum was established in 1863, during the time when
Mr. Richard Temple was the Chief Commissioner of the
Central Province.
Under instructions from the officiating chief commissioner, a
committee considered the site for the building of the
museum and library
The committee submitted a plan of building designed by
Capt. Cobbe.
Presently it is under control of director of archaeology and
Museum government of Maharashtra.

6. Natural History Collection
These Gallery has a rare collection dinosaur’s fossils, mineral, stones, antlers,
reptiles, fish and invertebrates specimen.

9. Tribal Art Collection
The Tribal art gallery showcases objects used by tribal communities like
boomerangs, tobacco boxes, tools, musical instruments etc.
