(HTML,HTTP & TPC/IP protocols) & software.
๏Accessed only by authorized persons, especially
members or employees of the organization.
The main purpose of an intranet is :
๏To share company information and computing
resources among employees.
7. LOCAL AREA NETWORK
๏A local area network (LAN) is a computer
network that interconnects computers within a
limited area such as a residence, school, laboratory,
university campus or office building.
8. ๏A LAN can cover an area of few kilometres in radius.
๏An office, building or a school usually contains a single
LAN.
๏Some schools may have an independent LAN in each
computer lab.
9. PERSONAL AREA NETWORK
๏ A personal area network (PAN) is a network of
communicating devices in the vicinity of an
individual. These devices could include computer,
phone , MP3/MP4 player ,camera , etc.
10. ๏ A PAN can cover an area of only few meters in radius.
๏ A PAN is used to transfer files between devices.
๏A PAN can use wired media (USB cable) or wireless media
(Bluetooth) .
