• WSJ Article 1
• The battle between Samsung and Apple has been going on for
years but only recently made its way into the court rooms. Apple
only recently has filed an injunction trying to ban the sale of the
Samsung smartphone the Galaxy Nexus. Apple won a preliminary
injuction hearing in which the sale of the Samsung phone was
banned. However an appellate court threw out the injunction
stating that there was no evidence of Apple being harmed by the
sale of the phone or an infringement apple’s patents.
• This relates to class because we have learned about injunctions
in class and how they work. An injunction is a legal order forcing a
party to do something. In this case the injunction was Samsung not
being allowed to sell one of their smart phones. In class the example
of an injunction that was given was the college students out west
who filed one stopping their college from cutting down trees to
build a new building on campus.
