1. Norden Wave
Contemporary Nordic music event series
Mission
To present contemporary Nordic music in Lithuania; to attract attention to Nordic culture and values; to
encourage international cultural dialogue and cooperation.
Vision
To become annual contemporary Scandinavian music event, bringing Nordic countries and Lithuania
together.
Northward
Scandinavian countries have long been a welfare state model. They are proud to foster such values as
tolerance, transparency, innovation, human rights, freedom, openness and also a very rich culture
environment.
We would like to present contemporary Nordic music to Lithuanian citizen and inspire people to learn
about Nordic values. Sharing the good examples will help Lithuania to become even more socially and
culturally mature.
By organising Nordic music days “Norden Wave” in Lithuania we also seek to create new Scandinavian and
Lithuanian music scene cooperation and foster a cultural partnership between the countries in the broad
sense.
Music as an art form for centuries has served as a bridge between different cultures. Music helps to
overcome language barriers, national and ethnic differences. We chose to represent particularly
contemporary Nordic music, because we seek to contribute to society's cultural and musical education and
openness to innovation. Contemporary music is particularly relevant for young and socially active city
people, so we hope they will be most interested in the event.
Nordic contemporary music scene is rich, substantial and interesting. Scandinavian music around the world
is well-known for such artists like Bjork, Royksopp, The Knife or Sigur Ros. There also are many unknown
but very talented and still emerging musicians who could also present their work in Lithuania.
We hope that the emergence of contemporary Nordic music event “Norden Wave” in Lithuania will be an
important and interesting step towards Nordic values.
