Introducing Balaton Sound::
In a unique way in Europe, the festival site is located directly on the waterside, the several
kilometers long coastline is suitable for swimming.
Consequently, beyond the music programs of the festival, the Balaton, the water, and the
recreation programs get a bigger emphasis.
Beachfront or on water built terraces, docks, bars, program venues along the beaches, water
sports complete the electronic music programs of the festival.
The electronic music styles expanded over the years, especially with hip hop, r'n'b and other
similar genres.
The event is characterized by a unique visual world, individual stages, program venues
with special decoration, visual design elements, custom installations, as well as
spectacular show- and pyrotechnics.
Balaton Sound won the „Best Medium-sized European festival” award in 2012.

Balaton Sound 2016:
With a sold-out Saturday Balaton Sound broke the previous record and closed the 10th Balaton
Sound with 157 thousand visitors.
The stars-beach-sun trio is still the most important attraction, not only for the Hungarian audience,
but also for the international visitors.
Visitors came from around 50 countries and several international stars also attended Balaton
Sound this year.
At Balaton Sound, on a total surface of 2000
square meters, there were several water
based program venues: The sandy Jana pier
was very popular, also the Heineken beach,
which was a giant pyramid built on water,
and the new Akvárium beach.

The festival was more spectacular with the 35 m high wheel – Balaton Eye, on the top of it not
only the south and the north coast attractions, but almost the whole panorama of the lake could
be admired.
A lot of football fans could follow the European Football Championship on a giant screen which
was set up on the sport beach venue.
10th Birthday of Balaton Sound
Balaton Sound is 10 years old:
The 10th anniversary of the festival was celebrated with lots of „surprise parties". On the first day
hundreds of birthday T-shirts were handed out to the audience, but they made more than 10,000
birthday selfies and the candles of the birthday cake was blown by the audience while there was a
huge confetti show.
The Boat Party debuted with a great success too.
Boat party:
Between 15 and 19 hour every day of the Balaton Sound, the "Badacsonyi" catamaran was
transformed into a party boat.
The participants could enjoy a four-hour program. While the international star DJs performed their
exclusive DJ sets they could admire the Balaton, the towns of Balaton and the festival itself. The
Boat was very exclusive: cocktail bars, lounge furnitures and the sun terrace.

Demography
71% of the Hungarian visitors came from Budapest. 50% of the foreigner visitors arrived from
Belgium, but a lot of people also visited from Austria, UK and France. The gender distribution ratio
is roughly the same, considering the age groups typically people between 18 and 25 years took part
on Balaton Sound.
