This year is my eighteenth (18th) year in education. My philosophy and resume are
attached. As you will see on my enclosed resume, I have the educational
background, professional experience, and track record for which you are searching.
In addition, I am motivated and enthusiastic, and would appreciate the opportunity to
contribute to your school’s success.
I am currently a Spanish Teacher at Huntsville ISD. As for the requirements,
although I am not currently certified in administration, I am enrolled in the Master's of
Administration with Principal Certification program at Sam Houston State University
which I will finish in December, 2016. I am fully prepared for this position since I have
passed the principal exam. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and work well
with a diverse population. I am willing to work long hours and come from a small
town atmosphere. I am a certified teacher trainer with the Time To Teach! program
that I plan on utilizing. In case you are not too familiar with this program, they are
strategies that are research based and very practical. They can and will help any
teacher create an orderly classroom environment based on mutual respect. It is a
way of bringing high interest curriculum into a teacher’s day by eliminating those
stressful interruptions of low level misbehaviors. I am so excited by the possibilities!
My personal background is very interesting as well. I was a migrant farmworker
growing up in south Texas. My educational endeavor did not begin until ten (10)
years after I got married. By that time I had three kids. I have done just about any job
anyone can think of. So when students come up to me and say it is hard, I relate
these stories and if I can make it, so can anyone else! But the good news is that this
is not only true for students, but parents as well. We need to start building an
environment that nurtures education, not simply talk about it. I have many great
ideas and after school programs that have worked and will work, as long as they are
given the opportunity.
Ma'am/Sir I can promise you that meeting with me will not be a waste of your time—
and I will make myself available at your convenience, during or outside of normal
business hours. Thank you so much for your time and look forward to hearing from
you soon.
