Greetings, I hope this finds you well in your work. My husband and I have recently moved to your area of
the state, so it is with great pleasure that I submit my application for your consideration. My experiences
as a student and substitute teacher make me a perfect candidate. I greatly valued these experiences and
would very much like to help your students experience that same education and preparation to become
life-long learners.
Part of my personal teaching philosophy includes educating the whole student, a strong focus on high
academic standards, and a dedication to building relationships with others. This alliance in educational
philosophies, along with my skills in building relationships and meeting each student where they are at,
makes me a strong candidate for a teaching position in your school. My dedication to my work as a
leader, mentor, and guide to students, and my desire to educate the whole child academically and socially,
will allow me to help your district reach its goals.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in elementary education and math endorsement in
May 2014 from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. My student teaching experiences included
Reading, Language Arts and Math classes in the fourth, fifth and eighth grades at three different schools.
I have since substituted frequently in all K-8 grades. My time substituting, particularly in lower
elementary, have helped me become a well-rounded teacher, as I can adapt to teach any age group. These
experiences helped me develop teaching methods that allow me to consider each student’s individual
learning needs and to adapt my teaching to a variety of learning styles.
You will find that I am hard-working, set high professional and personal standards for myself, and believe
in the importance of strong communication skills to enhance collaboration. It is important for me to
foster qualities of trust and respect, and to reach new levels of learning for myself as well as for my
students. My cooperating teacher praised me for my excellent classroom management and the
relationships I established with the students. I am dedicated to significant professional reflection in order
to improve my teaching and to continue to be a life-long learner.
