1. Evaluation of images: Shot 1
This shot is a medium close up of a student in their environment, the angle of the camera is
from above which suggests it is a teachers angle and how they see their students. The face
of the student aligns with the rule of thirds making her the optical Centre. The angle makes
the student big in the frame which also helps contribute towards her being the focus for the
audience. The image represents the student of Plumstead Manor sixth form studying. This
connotes that Plumstead Manor’s sixth form is successful and works hard to achieve future
goals. This shot will appeal to the target audience (15-18 year olds) as the shot shows the
student enjoying her working environment and the angle is not boring and basic as it is not
head on, but up above. From my class feedback I was informed that the image needs to be
cropped as the corner of the pencil case in the shot distracts the audience from the student
and may draw their attention away from her.
2. Evaluation of images: shot 2
This shot is of a student in the new sixth form Lerner building. The angle is from head on therefore is quite
basic and not eye-catching. The student does not align with the rule of thirds furthermore is automatically
not the optical center for the audience. The lighting for the image is quite over-exposed in some areas and
under-exposed in others. The image represents the student using the buildings break out area for personal
revision this connotes that the new site provides a peaceful place for students who wish to continue their
studies in their own time. This image will appeal to the target audience as it will aspire students to come
to the sixth form by showing new technology as she has her phone by her which will interest youth
looking at the shot, it also shows how she is wearing her own style clothes which can relate to the 15- 18
year olds who wish to express themselves through their own clothing therefore contributing to the appeal
of the audience. However the student looks quite stressed in the shot, therefore the need of diversion
from the audience would not be met as they may be given an insight to stressful exams. From my class
feedback I was informed that the students in the background of the shot make the image look un-restful
and packed, so I cropped my image to make it more appropriate.
3. Evaluation of images: shot 3
This shot is a medium close up of a student to show her in her environment, it features the new sixth form
building. The angle is head on therefore makes the shot quite basic, however the student aligns with the rule
of thirds furthermore makes the student stand out. The photo is meant to represent the student featuring
the new sixth form building and showing table tennis as a fun activity that students can enjoy at the new
building. This shot has a student wearing her own stylish clothes this connotes that students have the
freedom to dress how they want which will appeal to the target audience. The table tennis tables in the
image connotes that the need of diversion from the target audience will be met as it is a fun activity to
divert your self from stress and pressure from school which will also appeal to aspiring students who wish to
join the school. The student also looks content standing in front of her new building which connotes that
students at Plumstead Manor are enjoying the school. From my class feedback I was informed of areas that
were over ex-posed and that the image should be cropped to make it into a medium close up from her
shoulders upwards. So I cropped the image and decreased the brightness.
