Recognition
The quotesfromthisbookarefromChuck Kepner.
Through his work with the Rand Corporation in the 1950s, Chuck Kepner
discovered that some managers and directors were better at solving
problems than others. He also believed that decision-making and problem-
solving in private business and government weren’t skills that you either
had embedded in your DNA or you didn’t. They were tools to be
developed through hard work, dedication and perseverance, and with the
proper training.
Together with Mat-thys Fourie, they developed the KEPNERandFOURIE
method of critical thinking and problem solving which has been used in
many companies throughout the world.

Basu Ghosh, CEO and Founder of Omnikron, Inc., is a software engineer
by training. Before founding Omnikron, Inc., Basu managed the
implementation of the enterprise-wide retail banking application for First
Interstate Bank. His career includes training and development of large-
scale transaction processing systems for organizations such as Wells Fargo
Bank (formerly First Interstate Bank), Federal Express,American Savings
Bank, IBM Canada, Bank ofAmerica, VISA, Citicorp, British Airways,
EDS, US AIR, Hyatt Hotels, Marriott Hotels, American Express, United
Airlines and many more.
Basu holds an M.S. (1978) in Computer Science from UCLA. He received
his BS (1968) and MS (1970) in Applied Geology from Indian Institute of
Technology, Kharagpur, and MA (1973) in Geology from Boston
University.
