Quattro Design has over 17 years experience of designing within the healthcare
environment.
We have a dedicated and experienced health team delivering a broad range of
projects encompassing strategic hospital master planning, operating theatres,
mental health design, diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology services,
inpatient facilities, clinical support spaces, decontamination suites, primary and
community care and acute facilities.
We strive towards creating imaginative, non-institutional solutions to meet the
current and future needs of our clients, their staff and patients. We believe
that drawing upon our experience in other sectors within the practice such
as education, care, living and communities adds great value to our projects,
providing a rich spectrum of designing projects that install a sense of pride and
ownership in communities.

5. Operating Theatre Suites
Quattro’s operating theatre credentials encompass a wide variety of projects
including Interventional, General, Mobile and Orthopedic Theatres. Our ability
to successfully deliver advanced, highly clinical spaces that are suitable for
carrying out surgical procedures, with well-planned associated facilities and
plant, all within the restrictions of an existing hospital site, is second to none.
Interventional Radiology Theatre, Cheltenham General Hospital
The interventional radiology theatre was an extremely successful project for
the trust. It was designed and delivered within a very demanding programme.
Through successful collaboration with the clinical, design and construction
teams we were able to generate a construction strategy that allowed adjacent
wards to remain operational during the construction.

7. Mental Health
Quattro has extensive experience working in both outpatient and inpatient
mental health buildings and secure units. We have worked for a number of
clients including the 2gether Trust, Wye Valley Trust and North Bristol Trust
providing and improving facilities for a variety of special needs including
learning disabilities and behavioral issues from adolescents, to patient suffering
with dementia. Our focus is to create non-clinical, homely, robust, friendly
and safe environments to help lower emotional tensions. We seek to maximise
multi-purpose use where feasible and improve patient privacy and dignity.
Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Wotton Lawn Hospital Gloucester
This state-of-the-art unit is described as being one of the best in the world. It
provides care and treatment for those whose safe management and treatment
is not possible on an open acute ward. The project delivery team managed to
create fantastic facilities with superb sustainability credentials leading to low
energy consumption and reduced running costs. Key sustainability measures
included a well insulated and airtight envelope, high levels of natural light, solar
heating, windcatchers for ventilation and rainwater harvesting.

9. Diagnostic Imaging & Interventional
Radiology Services
Our specialist Health Team has successfully delivered a number of Diagnostic
Imaging & Interventional Radiology Services projects, including general X-Ray
and mammography imaging, MRI Scanners, CT Scanners and Fluoroscopy
Imaging. We take great care in ensuring that we create pleasant and
comfortable environments to put patients at ease. We pay particular attention
to future proofing installations, allowing for the planned replacement of these
large specialist items of equipment.
Thirstaine Breast Centre, Cheltenham
Thirlestaine underwent a £2.5 million transformation including a high quality
refurbishment of the Grade II listed building and erection of a sensitive yet
modern extension. The Centre combines breast cancer screening and
symptomatic services using the latest digital imaging technology.
We worked closely with our clients, the Cobalt Appeal Fund and the local NHS
trust to meet the exacting requirements for a clinic that provides countrywide
screening services for nearly 30,000 patients per year.

11. In Patient Facilities
Quattro have considerable knowledge and experience in designing to space
control standards associated with inpatient facilities and fully recognise the
importance of maintaining patient privacy and dignity. We understand that well-
thought-out design will support good observation and communication within
a ward and that thoughtful consideration of the location of support spaces will
help reduce travel distances for staff. Our experience includes a 5 bed post-
operative high dependency unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, an 8 bed
extension to the paediatric ward at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and several
ward refurbishments at Cheltenham General Hospital.
Stratton Ward, Cirencester Hospital
Working directly for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, Quattro
and the project team were tasked with completing the ward refurbishment
at Cirencester Hospital in time to relieve winter bed pressures. The team
successfully achieved this task, delivering the ward facilities on time and
within budget. The refurbished ward provided 12 bed spaces, a separate
independent living flat, an ambulatory care ward and external seating balcony.

13. Clinical Support Spaces & Decontamination
We have delivered well planned, clinical support spaces and decontamination
departments, including endoscopy and sterile services. We understand the
need to maximise storage space and create spaces that are easy to clean and
maintain. We also recogonise that these spaces are essential to the delivery of
quality patient care and raising staff morale.
Sterile Services Department- North Bristol Trust
Quattro developed several feasibility schemes for North Bristol NHS Trust
for the relocation or extension of their sterile services department. These
culminated in the relocation of Southmead Hospital’s Sterile Services
Department into an offsite industrial unit.
We designed the space to follow workflow principles, separating clean and
dirty product to prevent cross flow contamination. In turn we have created
a highly functional, robust, cleanable unit, whilst maintaining an attractive,
pleasant environment for staff.

15. Primary Care (Community Care)
Specialist Health
Quattro has a long-standing tradition of working on community healthcare
buildings. We fully understand that healthcare delivery is constantly
changing. We have delivered a number of new build, altered or extended
doctors surgeries, health centres, resource centres, community hospitals
and dental practices. We are used to working with a wide range of issues to
deliver inspired, state-of-the-art and financially viable solutions.
Broad Street Dental Surgery, Hereford
Quattro provided a design service for the refurbishment of 200sqm of office
accommodation into a state-of-the-art private dental surgery with three
bright, private surgeries and an open, welcoming waiting area.
