1. Survivor – FYS 100
We were asked to pick four people to live out of a group of thirteen people.
They would be sent to live in a bunker to survive The Avian Flu. They would need to
survive for two years and be able to repopulate and reestablish society once the flu
has died out.
We picked the female scientist, the male doctor, the male lawyer, and the
female university professor to live. We figured the scientist would be able to grow
the food and figure out many of the methods to help them survive. The doctor would
be able to monitor the health of the group and keep everyone alive. The lawyer
would be able to help maintain the society once the flu is over and establish laws.
The professor could help the scientist and keep the bunker maintained. We made
them two males and two females so they could repopulate the world once the
bunker opened.
We felt like these were the best possible professions for the bunker. We felt
like these professions brought the best possible skills to the table. The others have
some kind of flaw that would be detrimental to the bunker or society as a whole
afterward. I feel like there could have been other choices made, but in the end this
was the best possible scenario. It was a little heartless to basically sentence nine
other to death. I feel like with proper rationing and growing we could have extended
how many could stay in the bunker.
