OTHER COMMITTEE AND GRANT WORK
 COLLEGE COMMITTEE WORK.
 Elected member of Student Development Committee. The
committee hears discipline cases and recommends action for the
school to take. The committee also receives applications for
scholarships and awards them to qualified students.
 Appointed member of College Portal Committee. Took part in the
process of choosing a portal system for the college. I then piloted
“Campus Cruiser” in the classroom and reported back to the
committee.
 Appointed member of College Portal Faculty Sub-Committee. The
committee is also responsible for developing a training program for
the college faculty and staff to implement the portal system college
wide.
 Appointed member of a search committee that reviewed resumes,
interviewed candidates, and recommended a candidate to be hired
as a college counselor.
 Appointed member of ESL writing committee. The committee
reviewed all ESL writing classes and recommended changes in the
syllabi. We also wrote the writing prompts for the all of the writing
finals.
 Appointed Chair of the ESL textbook committee. Targeting classes
that Professors were unhappy with the textbooks, the committee
researched many ESL books and replaced several books for the
next semester.
 COLLEGE GRANT WORK.
 Appointed Title V Cooperative Grant-ESL Specialist: Organized
faculty-development transfer workshops at Passaic County
Community College, New Jersey City University, and Hudson
Community College. The workshops are aimed at easing the
transfer of ESL students to four-year programs. As the ESL
specialist, I am responsible for finding presenters for the workshops
and making arrangements when PCCC hosts the workshops. As a
member of this committee, I was invited to take a trip in January
2004 to Arizona and New Mexico. The purpose of the trip was to
visit colleges and discuss and observe ways the colleges were
using the Title V money.
 Attended Title V Student Advisement Workshops. The workshops
stressed how to develop an advisement strategy to insure a
successful academic future for students.
 Also attended meetings that monitored the progress of programs
funded by Title V within PCCC.

 Taught an ESL reading class developing basic skills, including;
vocabulary skills, reading comprehension, and college study
