Proposed, sold, installed and supported Robertson’s Spices first distributed data capture systems in 1985.
Value was in excess of R1m.
Most Outstanding Sales and Support Achiever for Data Cybernetics (nationally), for four consecutive years.
Vice-Chairman of Natal Computer Society of SA chapter for two years. Responsible for complete
organisation of the national Computer Society of SA’s “Bridging the Gap” seminar – highly successful.
Project managed the installation of passive near-field and the first Biometric access security access systems
at Eskom Megawatt Park for 4000 employees.
Project managed the installation of the complete access control system for Eskom’s Tutuka Power Station.
Bought three computer operating divisions from Datakor / Unidata in 1992.
Negotiated and signed international distribution agreements with Citoh Electronics (Japan and USA),
Sandersons (UK) and General Automation (International). Sales in excess of R50m by 1995.
Proposed, tendered, sold, installed and project managed the Empac Asset Maintenance Management
System for South African Rail Commuter Corporation including Metrorail. Project value was around R25m
and was successfully implemented on time within budget. Recommended for an NPI award.
Studied legal contract design, effect and implementation.
Proposed, sold, installed and project managed the first medical data and finance switching system in SA
called Mediswitch. Initial value in excess of R10m. Negotiated the successful sale and independence of
Mediswitch from SA Druggists for R50m.
Negotiated and signed an international software distribution license for the FYI (now Global 360) Document
Management and Messaging System. Achieved 18 major installations in SA using ICL as a partner.
Elected Chairman of SA’s largest private game reserve. Spearheaded introduction of many game species,
and new game management and grazing management techniques for enclosed reserves. Investigated and
commenced a radical elephant contraception program.
Negotiated the dropping of fences between Welgevonden and SA Park’s Marakele reserves.
Established the most successful regional game security and anti-poaching unit. Provided training courses
for many other national and private reserves.
Managed and controlled all environmental and building regulations over 65 separate sites within a 36000
hectare reserve.
Designed, developed, and distributed SA’s first large scale Document Management and Workflow System –
Dejevu, at a cost of R30m over 3 years. Achieved 25 installations – 6 internationally.
Participated in a major SA / UK / Ireland / Scotland Trade Mission, representing SA IT business.
Managed my group companies then valued at R50m pa with 45 employees in SA, 2 in Australia and 3 in
USA. Commenced international distribution and licensing discussions.
Two year sabbatical due to family tragedy.
Strategized, designed and built a large scale Electronic Patient Record Management System for SA
Government usage.
Mobilized and grew the largest and most successful Residents Association in South Africa, implementing
unique public participation processes. This involved more than 6000 households with 3500 paying
2. participants. Created the largest residential security contract in SA valued at around R2m per month. This
involved a security force of 450 members. Designed and built our own independent control room / call center
environment and installed the first suburb-wide camera security systems over a 12 Km2 area.
Managed all the separate business units and grew the finances from R14m to R32m pa.
Managed more than 40 Residential Estate Agents. Actively entrenched control with 2 Commercial Business
Parks and 3 Shopping Centers, forcing any Managing Agent decisions to be passed by my team before
implementation.
Enforced Municipal “subservience” to our residential and commercial model.
Planned and successfully executed four large scale community events per year for 6 years – improving each
time.
Planned and successfully implemented the first local area private Emergency Medical Response system.
1200 contributing members paying for 3 response vehicles staffed with ALS level paramedics and two
ambulances. This model is now being rolled out across the country.
Ran several sales training courses – Complex Sales, Key Account Management, Sales Management – for
three major SA corporations, training more than 120 people over a six month period.
Negotiated and implemented a Sociometric (vs Psychometric) assessment product distribution for SA.
Actively consulted to many organizations on employee suitability and management interaction for 6 years.
Strategized, designed and created a unique Luggage only insurance scheme with a large insurance
company. Involved financial risk modelling over a six month period. Established an off-shore company
management scheme and procured foreign finance for the project.
Strategized and started a fuel logistics operation, using local and imported fuels.
