Project description
n Alstom and Isolux are converting two
units at the Altamira thermoelectric power
station in Mexico to run on petroleum
coke. The conversion project is aligned
with the Mexican energy strategy as it
will decrease 90 percent of the power
station’s sulfur dioxide emissions.
Citec scope
n Citec’s scope included management
of document and material deliverables
of the project with focus on the main and
secondary structures of the boiler islands.
Elements were identified with 2D barcode
labels for easy tracking.

n Alstom selected Citec as supplier
largely because of project lifecycle
management solution CitecDot - to secure
traceability and quality control.
With the help of CitecDot, engineering
documents were checked and approved
by the design team in Italy and Estonia,
doc control took place in India, approval
for manufacturing was done in France,
fabrication was spread over several
factories in China, whereas the
construction site is in Mexico.
A Citec representative was employed in
China to support document management,
quality control, labelling items, progress
follow-up and expediting of steel structure
elements. The progress and status of
quality controls were animated in 3D.
