2.  INFECTIOUS DISEASES are
caused by various organisms such
as bacteria, viruses, fungi or
parasites.
 They’re normally harmless or
even helpful, but under certain
conditions, some organisms may
cause disease. Some can be
passed from person to person,
some are transmitted by bites
and others are acquired from
ingesting contaminated food or
water or being exposed to
organisms in the environment.

4. • Dengue virus is transmitted by day-biting
Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus
mosquitoes.
• These mosquitoes also
spread Zika, chikungunya, and other viruses.
• Dengue has no treatment but the disease can
be early managed.

5. Characteristics:
Aedes mosquitoes are visually distinctive because they have noticeable
black and white markings on their bodies and legs. Unlike most other
mosquitoes, they are active and bite only during the daytime. The peak
biting periods are early in the morning and in the evening before dusk.
