Overview VOV5
The Overseas Service of VOV
VOV5 targets overseas Vietnamese and foreigners in
the country.
Its website at www.vovworld.vn launched for a year
The first aim was to post the texts of 12 programs,
live radio programs, and recorded programs within 7
days
The purpose is changed into a multimedia page.
Current status of the website
Poor in terms of the quality with many conventional
news, few video-clips, music, and photos, and boring
and neglected blogs.
The copyrights/license of photos, video-clips, and
music.
Links including their relevance not made full use of.
Less interact with readers.
Feasible, short-term changes
Sharing the knowledge, experiences with the English
section’s boss and colleagues in using
searchcreativecommons.org and twitdeck.com.
Helping the colleagues understand the importance of
news to have relevant photos, captions.
Focusing on news desk team on making links.
Feasible, short-term changes
(Cont.)
Training on how to use Gmail accounts to create maps
and Youtube account to upload videos.
The editing and re-writing of news with more facts,
figures, information in news.
Maintaining my blog. (2 articles a month )
Longer-term plan
First step, realizing the trial fan-page into an official
page with me as administrator.
Second step, building an online community for
VOV5 to attract more listeners and readers.
Timetable for the plans
In the second week of July raising the issue of training
for colleagues to agree on a detailed timetable.
In the third week of July the training can be conducted
between 2 working shifts of a day in a week, often on
Friday.

The section’s boss himself will have to inform the
higher level about the longer-plan  it might take
longer time.
If the short-term plan is successful in my section,
surely it’ll be duplicated throughout the sections!

  • 3. Overview VOV5 The Overseas Service of VOV VOV5 targets overseas Vietnamese and foreigners in the country. Its website at www.vovworld.vn launched for a year The first aim was to post the texts of 12 programs, live radio programs, and recorded programs within 7 days The purpose is changed into a multimedia page.
  • 4. Current status of the website Poor in terms of the quality with many conventional news, few video-clips, music, and photos, and boring and neglected blogs. The copyrights/license of photos, video-clips, and music. Links including their relevance not made full use of. Less interact with readers.
  • 5. Feasible, short-term changes Sharing the knowledge, experiences with the English section’s boss and colleagues in using searchcreativecommons.org and twitdeck.com. Helping the colleagues understand the importance of news to have relevant photos, captions. Focusing on news desk team on making links.
  • 6. Feasible, short-term changes (Cont.) Training on how to use Gmail accounts to create maps and Youtube account to upload videos. The editing and re-writing of news with more facts, figures, information in news. Maintaining my blog. (2 articles a month )
  • 7. Longer-term plan First step, realizing the trial fan-page into an official page with me as administrator. Second step, building an online community for VOV5 to attract more listeners and readers.
  • 8. Timetable for the plans In the second week of July raising the issue of training for colleagues to agree on a detailed timetable. In the third week of July the training can be conducted between 2 working shifts of a day in a week, often on Friday.
  • 9. Timetable for the plans (Cont.) The section’s boss himself will have to inform the higher level about the longer-plan  it might take longer time. If the short-term plan is successful in my section, surely it’ll be duplicated throughout the sections!
