2. INTRODUCTION
Gesture Controlled Robot is a robot which can be
controlled by simple gestures.
The user just needs to wear a gesture device which
includes a sensor.
The sensor will record the movement of hand in a
specific direction which will result in the movement
of the robot in the respective direction.
The robot and the Gesture device are connected
wirelessly via radio waves.
The wireless communication enables the user to
interact with the robot in a more friendly way.
3. COMPONENTS
Accelerometer
Arduino Nano
Encoder
Transmitter
Receiver
Decoder
Motor Driver IC
DC Geared Motor
9V Battery
Voltage Regulator IC
5. ACCELEROMETER
An Accelerometer is an electromechanical device
which sence movement
ADXL 335 accelerometer is used here, which can
sence X,Y,Z direction. Here only X & Y are used
6. ARDUINO NANO
Arduino Nano is the microcontroller used
The Arduino Nano is a small, complete, and
breadboard-friendly board based on the
ATmega328P
7. ENCODER IC
An encoder is a device, that converts information
from one format to another.
Here we are using encoder for converting parallel
data into serial data.
The HT12E is an 4bit encoder which encode the
input data applied on it .It is mainly used in
interfacing RF and infrared circuits.
8. RF TRANSMITTER
The word RF stands for “Radio Frequency”
The radio frequency has ability to cross obstacles
plus it provides good coverage of 30 meters
Here a 433Mhz RF transmitter/receiver module is
used
9. RF RECEIVER
The transmitted data is received by an RF receiver
operating at the same frequency as that of the
transmitter.
Both the transmitter and receiver works on 5v DC
10. DECODER IC
A decoder is a device which does the reverse
operation of an encoder.
Original information can be retrieved.
HT12D converts that serial data into parallel.
11. MOTOR DRIVER IC
It is also known as H-Bridge or Actuator IC
L293D is the driver IC used
It’s quadruple high-current half-H drivers
It can be used to control two DC motors in same or
different direction
12. DC GEARED MOTOR
A geared DC Motor has a gear assembly devoted
to the motor
This concept of reducing the speed with the help of
gears and increasing the torque is known as gear
reduction
Here 2 DC geared motor of 100rpm is used, which
is run by L239D IC
17. APPLICATONS
Through the use of gesture recognition, remote
control with the wave of a hand of various devices
is possible.
Gesture controlling is very helpful for handicapped
and physically disabled people to achieve certain
tasks, such as driving a vehicle.
Gestures can be used to control interactions for
entertainment purposes such as gaming to make
the game player's experience more interactive or
immersive.
