NK Guy's book Art of Burning Man presents 16 years of participatory art installations from the Burning Man festival through dazzling photographs. The ephemeral works exist to allow self-expression beyond ego and commerce. A reviewer says the art captures "a realm far beyond the ego, commerce, and power play of mainstream cultural output." The book documents "one of the most pure, uninhibited, expressive centers of our time."

Art of Burning Man (ISBN 9783836550079 $59.99) – August 20th
release
Writer and photographer NK Guy presents 16 years
of Burning Man art. His dazzling images record
these participatory, collective, intrinsically
ephemeral installations and happenings in the
desert, which exist for no clearer purpose than
because someone wanted to express something.
The result is testimony to a realm far beyond the
ego, commerce, and power play of mainstream
cultural output: It is one of the most pure,
uninhibited, expressive centers of our time.

‘Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F’ In Top 10 Highest-Grossing Anime
Titles Domestically — $8M+ Final Box Office

favorite ended its nine-day run last night in 457 locales. Wednesday added another
$479K to bring the film’s final to a little over $8M for indie FUNimation which marketed

Mike's Place: A True Story of Love, Blues, and Terror in Tel Aviv by
Jack Baxter & Joshua Faudem, Illustrated by Koren Shadmi (ISBN
9781596438576 $22.99)
A nonfiction graphic novel about the
aftermath of a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv in
2003—from documentary film makers Jack
Baxter and Josh Faudem.
There's a rule at Mike's Place: never, ever talk
politics or religion. At this blues bar on the Tel
Aviv beachfront, an international cast of
characters mingles with the locals, and
everyone is welcome to grab a beer and
forget the conflict outside. At least, that's the
story Jack and Joshua want to tell in their
documentary.
But less than a month after they begin filming,
Mike's Place is the target of a deadly suicide
bombing. Jack, Joshua, and the Mike's Place
family survive the only way they know how-by
keeping the camera rolling.
Written by filmmakers Jack Baxter and Joshua
Faudem and illustrated by award-winning
cartoonist Koren Shadmi, Mike's Place
chronicles the true story of an infamous
terrorist attack in painstaking detail. Rarely has the slow build to tragedy, and the rebirth
that follows, been captured with such a compassionate and unflinching eye.

9. Now taking orders for the November release of….
Martyrdom: The Coloring Book (ISBN 9781942186069 $16.99)
The lives of the saints are filled with
inspiring, life-changing moments—but
the deaths of the martyrs are where
you’ll find the real “Oh, hell no!”
moments of history. This adult (very
adult, as the body count will quickly
indicate) coloring book gives aspiring
crayon and paper artists the chance to
hone their craft while also buffing up
their knowledge of Catholic history and
tales. The attending stories will go
down pretty easy at cocktail hours as
well.
Each intricately detailed illustration leaves plenty of room for interpretation. How will you
render the sea that drowned St. Clement (or the anchor that was tied around his neck at
the time)? The clubs and arrows that stilled St. Valentine’s heart? The gladiator that
finished St. Perpetua? And what about the scene surrounding St. Elmo when he passed
on? (Don’t ask.) The lives and deaths of the saints are shockingly detailed, but in the
text they always appear in black and white—and now it’s time to color. (Pro tip: Make
sure you have more than one red crayon handy.)

L'Amour: Rock Capital of Brooklyn (ISBN 9781940207698 $39.99)
During the disco drenched year of 1978, 62nd Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, was home
to L'Amour, a small, unassuming discothéque thriving on a local dance crowd. “Rock
Nights” on Thursdays were first brushed off as a bad joke. But in less than a year,
blindsided by scores of disgruntled heavy metal misfits, the punch-line of that bad joke
swelled into a quarter-century-long tsunami of
hell-raising mayhem that turned a faceless disco
into the world's most famous heavy metal mecca.
L'Amour: Rock Capital of B'klyn is a large format
book jammed with over 1,000 full-color
photographs, ticket stubs, and memorabilia
representing the rich music history of the
Brooklyn venue. Hundreds of full-color
performance photos of the bands that hit the
L'Amour stage are featured prominently in the
book, as well as interviews with many of the
musicians. Venue staff, club regulars, and show
attendees contribute slices of club life. L'Amour:
Rock Capital of B'klyn tells the story in stunning
images and words of the famous heavy metal venue and its important contributions to
the scene. If you are a heavy metal fan, or just a music history buff in general, this book
is a must have.

Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible: A Marvelous Memoir
(ISBN 9781501107726 $30.00)
In this gorgeously illustrated, full-color graphic memoir, Stan Lee—comic book legend
and co-creator of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, the Incredible Hulk, and a
legion of other Marvel superheroes—shares his iconic legacy
and the story of how modern comics came to be.
Stan Lee is a man who needs no introduction. The most
legendary name in the history of comic books, he has been
the leading creative force behind Marvel Comics, and has
brought to life—and into the mainstream—some of the world’s
best-known heroes and most infamous villains throughout his
career. His stories—filled with superheroes struggling with
personal hang-ups and bad guys who possessed previously
unseen psychological complexity—added wit and subtlety to a
field previously locked into flat portrayals of good vs. evil. Lee
put the human in superhuman and in doing so, created a new
mythology for the twentieth century.
In this beautifully illustrated graphic memoir—illustrated by
celebrated artist Colleen Doran—Lee tells the story of his life with the same inimitable
wit, energy, and offbeat spirit that he brought to the world of comics. Moving from his
impoverished childhood in Manhattan to his early days writing comics, through his
military training films during World War II and the rise of the Marvel empire in the 1960s
to the current resurgence in movies, Amazing Fantastic Incredible documents the life of
a man and the legacy of an industry and career.
This funny, moving, and incredibly honest memoir is a must-have for collectors and fans
of comic books and graphic novels of every age.
