2. Detailed ANNEXURE of PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN
Performance of disk I/O operations during the Live Migration of a VM over WAN (M.Sc. / M.Tech Thesis)
In this thesis our main objective was to determine the disk I/O performance of shared (iSCSI and NFS) and private (DRBD)
storage solutions when VM’s are live migrated in networks with high latency, with WAN's as the typical case. Our testbed
results indicate that the DRBD-based solution should be preferred over the considered shared storage solutions as DRBD
consumed less network bandwidth and has a lower maximum I/O response time.
Network Management Project (M.Sc. / M.Tech. Project)
The project involved redesigning of a network for an advertising company whose present network had many setbacks. The
team worked on various network management issues like technical issues, user related issues and operational issues. Finally a
better network design along with estimated budget was proposed.
Role: Performed all responsibilities
Simulation Project
The project involved the analysis of the performance of an M/M/1 queuing model with the given parameters. The team
conducted a simulation study by varying at least one input parameter, and analyzed the outcomes in terms of confidence and
correlation.
Software Development for Telecommunication Systems Project
The goal of our project is to send an automated SMS from the server to the customer who wants to know the bus schedule to
any destination from Karlskrona central railway station. I programmed the project and configured Ozaki SMS gateway.
Applied Network Management Project
IPv4 Enabled Interface Management is a software project designed to probe a network device at regular intervals of time and
store details in a Database management System. The software is able to perform the functional specifications which include
probing a device, collecting traffic statistics, storing them in a database, retrieving the data from the database, and displaying
it to the user either in graphical or textual display.
Research Methodology Project
The aim of this project was to compare and analyze various adaptive algorithms and to point out the tradeoffs between the
algorithms tested. The algorithms used are the least mean squares algorithm, Leaky LMS algorithm, Normalized LMS
algorithm, and Recursive Least Squares algorithm. Two sets of data were used to verify the algorithms. A set of ECG data and
a set of corrupted sinusoidal signal data were used.
Network Security Projects (Case Study)
This case study listed various vulnerabilities which helped Darth (Hacker) enter into the network of a fictional firm Acme
Widgets Inc., and take over it. The team analyzed all the vulnerabilities in the company's network and the documented
solution to avoid them and proposed new network policies to increase security for Acme Widgets Inc.
Shell Project
Programmed an application which organizes files in a proper order by moving them to desired directories based on their file
extensions. Bourne shell was used to code. Verbose, compressions, command line arguments were handled in this project.
Prepaid Energy Meter (B.Tech. Project)
The project was based on AT89S52 microcontroller and solutions for problems like power meter tampering.
Role: Development, Programming and Documentation
