AIB Bank Opens
Mini Branch
at East Gate
Little Island
It’s understood trans-
actions will be made
through ATM’s or con-
ducted via tablet.
Earlier this year the
bank offered twelve of
its prime location sites in
Dublin for sale for an es-
timated €48 million. The
properties were estimated
at the height of the prop-
erty market at just over
€100 million.
Since 2012 AIB have
sold off 31% of its net-
work. Its new branch
CEO Bernard Byrne has
been reported saying “the
new openings were neces-
sitated by shifting popula-
tion centers.”
The CEO is expected
to meet with his board
next week to access
whether the bank needs
to strengthen its manage-
ment team ahead of its
stock market flotation lat-
er this year.
Local Fianna Fail
Councilor Padraig O’Sul-
livan welcomed the open-
ing of the branch saying it
will be a great addition to
the community.
“It’s good to see some
empty units in East Gate
Village being used. This
is reflective of the up-
turn of the economy and
strengthening of the retail
sector in Little Island”
O’Sullivan said.
All the staff here at Eu-
rospar Whitegate would
like to offer our congratu-
lations to both the White-
gate rowing club and the
East Ferry rowing club on
their great success in the
All Ireland Rowing Cham-
pionship Finals at the
weekend. Well done to all
the medallists and we look
forward to following their
continued success.
Many visitors to White-
gate have been compli-
menting the colourful
flower bed in front of the
shop and say it’s a lovely
addition to the village. The
colours will last well into
the autumn. This is anoth-
er recent sponsorship that
Eurospar are involved in
and we look forward to
being involved with the
Whitegate Residents as-
sociation in projects such
as this.
Thanks to the East
Cork Rapid Response for
installing a defibrillator
located at the front door
of Eurospar. The code is
available from any staff
instore or from any mem-
ber of the East Cork Rapid
Response team.
We would also like to
say congratulations to the
Aghada girls’ U14 foot-
ball team. It was a great
achievement for all the
girls to reach the finals in
Mallow and we here at Eu-
rospar were delighted to
sponsor the kits for them.
Well done to all involved
