4. Features of This Year:
Indian Republic Day
● 10 large LED screens on both sides -- five on each -- of Rajpath will be
installed for spectators to watch
● the Guest-list for the parade has been cut short and only 24,000
people would be allowed this time at the grand event (before
pandemic 1 lakh people were allowed)
● Prior to broadcasting the parade live, the screens would be
broadcasting short films on the Armed forces, clips of previous
marches and clips of other events in the run-up of the day.

26 every year to remember the day
when the Constitution of India came
into effect. India was ruled by the
British for over 200 years. India
gained Independence from the rule of
the British Raj after a long freedom
struggle.

It was on this day 73 years ago, the country was declared the
largest democracy in the world.
India celebrates Republic Day to commemorate the day the
Government of India Act (1935) set by the British Raj was
abolished.
It is a national holiday which commemorates the process of
establishment of the Indian Constitution.

Rajpath was not the organizing centre for the parade from
1950 to 1954.
The participants practice for 600 hours before performing
on the 26th January formally.
It involves the participation of around 41 Aircrafts.
The song “Abide with me” is played at every Republic Day
parade event as it was the favourite song of Mahatma
Gandhi.
