and intelligent lining concepts
Nowadays, and apart from the ac-
tual tasks, hot metal transport ves-
sels are sometimes used to carry
out metallurgical processing steps
that go far beyond the transport
from blast furnace to steel plant,
and for filling the converters.
We have taken this into account,
and for all standard lining concepts
we supply bauxite, calcined or
carbon-bonded andalusite and – to
an increasing degree – high-grade
carbon-bonded bauxite with SiC
additive. And of course, refrac-
tory castables for pouring areas
and repair are also included in the
product range.
Practice has shown that individual
brick shapes are preferred, particu-
larly for lining torpedo ladles.
Therefore, Refratechnik has creat-
ed a wide range of molds, enabling
us to respond flexibly to customer
requirements at any time.
The combination of REFRAFLEX®
bonding with high-grade bauxite,
graphite, and SiC results in excel-
lent chemical and thermomechani-
cal strength with simultaneous
high resistance to erosion through
hot metal, making this product
ideal for use as a wear lining in hot
metal vessels.
The Refratechnik grades
ALUCARBON® H 6305,
ALUCARBON® H 505,
ALUCARBON® H 8805-SiC, and
ALUCARBON® H 8810-SiC,
combined with the refractory
concretes
REFRACAST® ULC A-72 C/TS,
REFRACAST® LC A-55 S-10 AR/
TS, or REFRACAST® ULC B-83 for
the mouth area, have proved to
achieve outstanding service lives
in torpedo cars and hot metal
ladles, including desulphurization.
Most of our refractory concretes
are available for casting, gunning,
self-flowing, and shotcreting or
as prefabricated components
(REFRALINE®).
For exclusive use in torpedo cars,
the standard carbon and SiC-free
sintered products
REFRALUSIT® 63, REFRAL® S 62,
REFRAL® B 85, and KRONEX® 85
are most suitable.
For repair work, we
recommend REFRASPECIAL®
F-66 or shotcretes such as
REFRAJET® LC A-60 AR/TS,
REFRAJET® MC F-58 R or
REFRAJET® MC F-57 R.
