Salem State University, Writing Center Coordinator, 2016-present
Supervise, support, train, and mentor 15 returning (under)graduate tutors and 20 new
under(graduate) tutors. Hire and provide ongoing professional development for current
tutors, including monthly staff meetings and specialized training in areas such as
graduate student writing and online tutoring. Maintain the Center’s budget and finances,
including payroll and office supplies. Mentor one graduate assistant and supervise the
assistant writing center coordinator. Significant initiatives include:
• Launching “Graduate Write-In Series”
• Introducing new online scheduling, recordkeeping, and assessment
• Piloting a course-embedded tutoring program with the writing in the disciplines
coordinator
• Piloting online tutoring services
• Initiating faculty writing support
• Mentoring tutor research and staff professional development
