TOEFL is a standardized test to measure the English proficiency of nonnative speakers of English language.
It is required primarily by English-language colleges and universities. Government agencies, businesses, or scholarship programs may also require this test.
The paper version of the TOEFL test is scored on a scale of 217 to 677 points.
There is no passing score on the TOEFL test, but various institutions and organizations have their own TOEFL requirements.
The Test of Written English (TWE) may or may not be given at a particular administration of the TOEFL test. If TWE is given, it is scored on a scale of 1 to 6, and this score is not included in the overall TOEFL score.
