AN OVERVIEW ON THE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY
INITIATIVES BY INFOSYS LIMITED

INTRODUCTION
Infosys Limited (formerly Infosys Technologies Limited) is an
Indian multinational corporation that provides business consulting, information
technology and outsourcing services. It has its headquarters in Bengaluru,
Karnataka, India.[4]
Infosys is the second-largest Indian IT company by 2017 revenues and 596th
largest public company in world in terms of revenue.[5] On April 19, 2018 its market
capitalisation was $37.32 billion.[6] The credit rating of the company is A- (rating
by Standard & Poor's).[7]
HISTORY
Infosys was established by 7 engineers in Pune, India with an initial capital of $250
in 1981.[8] It was registered as Infosys Consultants Private Limited on July 2,
1981.[9] In 1983, it relocated its office to Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

Name Change: The company changed its name to Infosys Technologies Private
Limited in April 1992 and to Infosys Technologies Limited when it became a public
limited company in June 1992. It was later renamed to Infosys Limited in June
2011.[10]
Share listing:An initial public offer (IPO) in February 1993 with an offer price
of ₹95 (equivalent to ₹490 or US$7.50 in 2017) per share against book value
of ₹20 (equivalent to ₹100 or US$1.60 in 2017) per share. The Infosys IPO was
under subscribed but it was "bailed out" by US investment bank Morgan
Stanley which picked up 13% of equity at the offer price.[11] Its shares were listed
in stock exchanges in June 1993 with trading opening at ₹145 (equivalent to ₹750
or US$11 in 2017) per share.[12]
Its shares were listed on NASDAQ in 1999 through ADR route. The share price
surged to ₹8,100 (equivalent to ₹25,000 or US$380 in 2017) by 1999 making it the
costliest share on the market at the time. At that time, Infosys was among the 20
biggest companies by market capitalization on the NASDAQ.[11] The ADR listing
was shifted from NASDAQ to NYSE Euronext to give its European investors better
access to its stock.[13]
Revenue growth: Its annual revenue touched US$100 million in 1999, US$1
billion in 2004 and US$10 billion in 2017.[9]
Geographical expansion: In 2012, Infosys announced a new office in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin to service Harley-Davidson, being the 18th international office in the

United States.[14][15] Infosys hired 1,200 United States employees in 2011, and
expanded the workforce by an additional 2,000 employees in 2012.[15]
Product and portfolio expansion: In July 2014, Infosys started a product
subsidiary called, EdgeVerve Systems., focusing on enterprise software products
for business operations, customer service, procurement and commerce network
domains.[16] In August 2015, the Finacle Global Banking Solutions assets were
officially transferred from Infosys and became part of the product
company EdgeVerve Systems product portfolio.[17]
PRODUCTS & SERVICES
It provides software development, maintenance and independent validation
services to companies in finance, insurance, manufacturing and other domains. [18]
One of its known products is Finacle which is a universal banking solution with
various modules for retail & corporate banking

INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE
Infosys had 84 sales and marketing offices and 116 development centers across
the world as at March 31, 2017, with major presence in India, United States, China,
Australia, Japan, Middle East and Europe.
In 2017, 61.9%, 22.5% and 3.2% of its revenues were derived from projects in
North America, Europe and India, respectively. Remaining 12.4% of revenues
were derived from rest of the world

MISSION
Infosys is committed to the communities in which it operates. This has led to the
creation of Infosys Foundation to support the underprivileged sections of society.
A not-for-profit initiative aimed at fulfilling the social responsibility of Infosys Ltd.,
the Infosys Foundation creates opportunities and strives towards a more equitable
society.

Established in 1996, the Infosys Foundation supports programs in the areas of
education, rural development, healthcare, arts and culture, and destitute care. Its
mission is to work in remote regions of several states in India.
The Infosys Foundation takes pride in working with all sections of society, selecting
projects with infinite care, and working in areas that traditionally overlooked by
society at large.
At the outset, the Infosys Foundation implemented programs in Karnataka, and
subsequently extended its coverage to Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh,
Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra,
Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

KEY INITIATIVES BY INFOSYS FOUNDATION
HEALTHCARE
Access to primary healthcare, awareness of basic hygiene, and treatment of
underprivileged patients beg attention. The Infosys Foundation advances
healthcare by augmenting existing healthcare infrastructure. Since its inception in
1996, the Infosys Foundation has constructed hospital wards, built dharmashalas
(rest houses), and provided medical equipment to various hospitals across India.
The Foundation has also donated medicines in addition to organizing health camps
in rural India. The Infosys Foundation has donated more than INR 50 crore to
expand the capacity of hospitals across India and is involved in several healthcare
programs.
VISION FOR A BLIND-FREE INDIA
The Foundation’s association with SankaraNetralaya aims to provide financial aid
to the economically weaker sections of society. Apart from converting Lady

Willingdon Hospital into the Jaslok Community Ophthalmic Centre and purchasing
Heidelberg Retinal Angiogram II to diagnose retinal problems in diabetic patients,
the Foundation has initiated the building of a new community hospital. This hospital
aims to offer 12,000 free surgeries every year and will conduct training programs
in a variety of fields associated with ophthalmology.
CARING AND COMFORTING THE ILL
Joining hands with the Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre
(SVIRHC), the Foundation has contributed immensely towards the eradication of
leprosy. Over the years, SVIRHC has treated 3,747 leprosy patients, 11,083
tuberculosis patients, and conducted free eye operations for 16,869 patients. The
Foundation has also funded the BMCDT Bone Marrow Registry, Bengaluru, to
establish a global bone marrow donor registry in India.

PERSONALIZED TREATMENT FOR PSYCHIATRIC AND
NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) is an
innovative institution offering comprehensive care service for patients suffering
from psychiatric and neurological problems. At every step, Infosys Foundation has
offered financial assistance, paving the way for high quality and affordable
healthcare for patients who require it the most.
GRANTS
 Contributed funds to IIT Bombay for cancer research
 Granted a corpus fund to the Public Health Foundation of India, New Delhi. The
fund will be used to strengthen education, research, training, technology
development, public communications, and practice in the area of public health in
India

 Granted funds to the Medical Research Foundation, Chennai for the construction
of new building to serve as a community center for performing free cataract
surgeries on the poor
 Granted funds to the Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai towards the setting up of a
cancer registry and screening project – the HPV vaccination program
 Granted a corpus fund to the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology,
to set up an Infosys Chair and for research in new drug target discovery, and drugs
targeting parasitical infections and cancer
 Granted funds to the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (I), Chennai, towards
establishing a dementia care and resource center and for promoting positive
mental health in schools and colleges
 Granted a corpus fund to the Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology,
Bengaluru. The interest from the fund is being used to provide eye care and related
surgeries for the poor
 Funded the BMCDT Bone Marrow Registry, Bengaluru to establish a global bone
marrow donor registry in India to help patients of South Eastern origin
 Granted a corpus fund to the Bengaluru Kidney Foundation. The interest from the
fund is being used for providing dialysis to the poor.
 Granted a fund to the Bengaluru Hospice Trust – Karunashraya. The interest from
the fund is used to provide free palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses
 Granted funds to the SanginiMahilaSewa Cooperative Society, Mumbai for
covering medical expenses of sex workers

 Provided medicines to aged and poor patients suffering from cancer, leprosy,
defects of the heart / kidney, mental illnesses, and other major disorders. Donated
to organizations such as ChittaSanjeevini Charitable Trust to help distribute mental
illness medicines to the poor in rural areas. Provided food for leprosy, tuberculosis,
HIV-positive, and blind patients in Karnataka
 Constructed a dharmashala at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bangalore
 Donated ambulances to medical centers and hospitals in Kanchipuram, Tamil
Nadu; Gadag, B.R. Hills, and Dakshina
 Sponsored the purchase of a new CT scan machine, for the Ramakrishna Mission
Hospital, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh
 Donated high-tech surgical equipment to hospitals in Mysore, Bijapur, Bellary,
Bangalore, and Hubli in Karnataka, and air conditioners to the Burn Ward, at
Victoria Hospital, Bangalore. Purchased incubators, air conditioning units,
neonatal resuscitation equipment, and refrigerators for Bowring Hospital,
Bangalore
 Donated fluorescein angiography equipment to Shree Sharada Devi Eye Hospital,

EDUCATION
Education offers the youth a foundation to achieve their potential. However,
millions of children drop out of schools for financial reasons. The Infosys
Foundation promotes primary education among underprivileged children through
global partnerships
INSPIRING AND MENTORING UPCOMING SCIENTISTS
AND MATHEMATICIANS
With the objective of encouraging students to pursue further studies and research
across disciplines, especially in mathematics and science, Infosys Foundation has
partnered with Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI). The grants from the
Foundation have enabled the institution to enhance its infrastructure along with
certain basic necessities for all student

PROVIDING A BOOST TO ENGINEERING STUDENTS
Infosys Foundation started the Spark-IT program in September 2014. Specifically
for engineering students, the three-month course aimed to provide technology and
communication skills training to those who consistently performed well
academically.
The program received a tremendous response and attracted applicants from all
over the country. Infosys Foundation also tied up with a number of institutes in
Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune in order to gain a wider reach.
ELIMINATING HUNGER IN THE CLASSROOMS

One of the most effective ways to curb dropout rates in schools is by feeding its
students so that they do not have to earn to pay for their meals. Nestled in the
Bannerghatta Forest area of Bengaluru, Sri Ramakrishna Vidya Kendra is on a
mission to end classroom hunger among children belonging to the below poverty
line (BPL) segment as well as the local tribal community.
GRANTS
 Granted a corpus fund to the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bengaluru for
instituting Chair professorships
 Granted a corpus fund to the International Institute of Information Technology
(IIIT), Bengaluru for setting up two chair professorships and a Special Training
Program for 100 students
 Donated money to schools such as ShivagangaGramaVikasaParishad for
maintenance
 Granted a corpus towards a drinking water project, Jaldhara, in Jaipur, along with
funds for health checkups
 Instituted a corpus fund whose interest will be used for the midday meal schemes
in several schools in Salem, Kadapa, Mylapore, and Chapra
 Granted a corpus fund to the Bangalore Association for Science Education, which
will be used for the welfare of its employees

 Granted a corpus fund to the Ushas Centre for Exceptional Children, Hubballi. The
interest accrued will be used to provide physiotherapy for special children and
increase the salary of the teachers at the center
 Granted a corpus to the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, for the
'Infosys Award' which carries cash awards for the winners of the Science
Olympiads
 Granted funds to Akanksha, the employee – led CSR initiative of the Bhubaneswar
Development Center. The funds will be used to manage the scholarship program
called the PratibhaPoshak for needy students
 Granted a corpus fund to the Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru.
 Contributed to trusts such as Public Concern For Governance Trust to help
promote good governance in school children
 Contributed towards the AkshayaPatra Foundation midday meal program to cover
capital expenses for its kitchen in Hyderabad

 Contributed towards the upliftment of rural schools to buy computers and help
children learn soft skills

Renovated Gandhinagar, Kottara St. Peter's School, and KapikadZillaPanchayat

 Constructed buildings at KonappanaAgrahara, Bangalore, and donated money to
Isha Education for construction of classrooms at Cuddalore Rural School and Isha
School at Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu
 Helped Bangalore Association for Science towards the development and
maintenance of the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, including funding of the sky
theater program
 Constructed a science center at a rural school in the Kolar district of Karnataka –
a one-of-its-kind center in the entire district
 Under the Library for Every Rural School project, established more than 60,000
school libraries across Karnataka. More than 50,000 sets of books were donated
in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Orissa
 Supplied books and educational materials to Door Step, a mobile school, which
provides free education to under-privileged children and constructed class rooms
through Sparsh, Pune
 Partnered with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to build a hostel for students at its
Mumbai campus
 Contributed to new self-employment courses at post-graduation and post-
matriculation levels at the Nrupathunga Educational Institute, Hyderabad

ARTS AND CULTURE
Ancient art forms can be preserved and passed down from generation to
generation by showcasing the skills of artists. The Infosys Foundation promotes
traditional art, dance and craft. The Foundation identifies underprivileged artists
who don't have access to contacts or help. These include writers, painters, poets,
and musicians from different walks of life. The Foundation assists them on a need
basis by offering financial assistance, promoting their art, or helping them receive
the much-deserved recognition.
PRESERVING THE PAST FOR THE FUTURE
Infosys Foundation has been a major partner of Raja DinkarKelkar Museum with
the objective of building a ‘Museum City’ at par with international standards.
Currently, the partnership has been successful in upgrading the conventional style
of museum maintenance by digitizing its collections. The Foundation has also
carried out special measures for the betterment of the employees by increasing
their salaries and benefits.

PUMPING LIFE INTO THE AILING ART FORMS
Established in 1995, the Uppinakudru Sri DevannaPadmanabha Kamath Memorial
YakshaganaGombeyata Trust is a well-known association, which provides a
platform for artists of the UppinakudruYakshagana puppetry group to pursue their
interests and ensure that this unique art form is preserved. The Foundation has
also enabled them to set up a puppetry academy.
A HOLISTIC APPROACH TOWARDS THE
MAINTENANCE OF MONUMENTS
Monuments, a testimonial to our glorious past, have been slowly and steadily
fading and deteriorating. With a view to help counter this trend, Infosys Foundation
has been proactively taking measures to restore the Someshwara Archaeological
Complex and 14 other heritage structures.

 Increased the corpus fund for sponsoring various activities at different branches of
BharatiyaVidyaBhavan - Trichy, Agartala, Bengaluru, and Kolkata
 Donated to the Corpus fund of the Sanket Trust, RangaShankara, Bengaluru, for
the management and sponsorship of its theater activities
 Provided a grant to the Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, Bengaluru, for
documentation of the works of the ancient Kannada poet, Kumarayasa, and
introducing them to the next generation
 Provided a grant to the SreeRamasevaMandali, Bengaluru for organizing classic
music festivals
 Granted funds to ManoharGrantha Mala, Dharwad, for publishing and reprinting
Galaganath's complete works in Kannada, spanning six volumes
 Contributed towards creation of a corpus fund for instituting an award in the
memory of Ustad Bale Saheb by the Ustad Bale Khan Memorial Trust, Dharwad

 Organized cultural programs, accommodated travel and remunerative expenses
to promote artists in rural areas of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh
 Supported Sneham Social Welfare Foundation, Chennai , for conducting cultural
programs that promote arts, especially the local arts, in Tamil Nadu
 Sponsored the screening of the play , Maya Bazaar, at RangaShankara by Surabhi
–Sri VenkateshwaraNatyaMandali, Hyderabad
 Published a book called 'Embroidering Futures' in association with India
Foundation for the Arts. The book traces the roots, traditions, and transition of
'Kantha' from a simple art form to a highly valued one

DESTITUTE CARE
Support and vocational training help the destitute to live with dignity and earn a
livelihood. The Infosys Foundation partners with non-government organizations
(NGOs) to support destitute children and women. The Foundation supports
programs of NGOs in rural areas across India:
DIGNITY AND SUPPORT FOR DEVADASI COMMUNITY
One of the key objectives of Infosys Foundation is to eliminate the exploitation of
the devadasi community and ensure their rehabilitation by providing them with
more opportunities. To enable a smooth transition into a new life, the Foundation
has partnered with the Nava JeevanaMahilaOkkoota (NJMO), wherein devadasi
children are offered healthcare facilities and schooling.

DIRECTING THE DISTURBED MINDS
The Society for Assistance to Children in Difficult Situations (SATHI) provides a
helping hand to runaway/street children. Infosys Foundation has been a major
supporter of the organization, providing financial and other support. With its
shelters in all major cities of the country, SATHI has been successful in
rehabilitating 47,000 children and teenagers.
STEPPING STONES FOR VISHWAS
Based in Gurgaon, Vision for Health, Welfare and Special Needs (VISHWAS)
caters to the disadvantaged and the marginalized communities. VISHWAS and
Infosys Foundation have collaborated to provide elementary education for 300
children, including those with disabilities. The partnership offers support under
community initiatives in areas such as education, health, and early childhood care.

 Donated money to Sri Ramakrishna Sevashrama, Pavagada, Karnataka, towards
the supply of fodder for livestock in drought-hit areas, buying ophthalmic
equipment and musical instruments for its school for the blind
 Granted funds for the construction of a hostel for destitute girls, to the Parivaar
Education Society, Kolkata. Additional funds were provided for the midday meals
for 100 destitute children
 Funded the renovation of two old-age homes, run by the Ramakrishna Math, Belur
 Granted funds to Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu, towards the repair of an operation
theater, free distribution of medicines to the poor, and establishment of a library
 Granted a corpus fund to Shaktidhama, Mysore, for feeding abandoned and
destitute women
 Granted funds to the Nirmalya Trust, Pune, for the construction of a residential-
cum-therapy center in ParnerTaluka, Panoli
 Granted funds to the Cochlea Pune for Hearing and Speech to conduct implant
surgeries on the underprivileged children

RURAL DEVELOPMENT
The well-being of people living in rural areas ensures sustainable development.
The Infosys Foundation works with local administration to achieve community
development goals. We construct roads, provide drainage systems and electricity,
and rehabilitate flood-affected victims in rural areas. The Foundation has donated
more than INR 40 crore for rural development and livelihood projects such as
awareness campaigns on hygiene, sanitation, vocational training and
entrepreneurship.

BRINGING TO LIGHT: MENTAL HEALTHCARE
A shortage of doctors and the rising cost of medication have left many mentally ill
patients deprived of the required treatment. The Chittaprakasha Charitable Trust
provides residential rehabilitation centers for the mentally affected who are
homeless. Infosys Foundation has helped in the construction of a 7,500 sq. ft.
building at Chittadhama.
HELPING THE ONES WHO DESERVE IT THE MOST
The poorest part of a country is often the most neglected. The Ramakrishna
Mission has set up a school in Aalo, an inaccessible and backward tribal area in
the West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh. The center is more than a brick-

and-mortar school and is a kind of umbrella organization that includes 16 non-
formal schools, coaching centers, a dairy, a bakery unit, a small farming facility, a
dispensary, and a printing press. It also provides transportation for students to and
from their villages.
HIGHER STANDARDS OF EDUCATION FOR THE
UNDERPRIVILEGED
Agastya Foundation, the brainchild of a group of scientists, educators, and
executives, instils creativity and encourages the imbibing of scientific knowledge
among its students. Agastya and Infosys Foundation have together created higher
standards of education for the country’s underprivileged by providing them with
training workshops, mobile labs, and a hands-on educational methodology.

 Offered compensation to families whose breadwinners served in the Indian Armed
Forces and laid down their lives for the country
 Contributed to the Indian Council for Research on International Economic
Relations towards their corpus fund
 Donated towards the midday meal program of the AkshayaPatra Foundation,
Bangalore, for poor children in North Karnataka
 Granted funds for the Society for Education, Action, and Research in Community
Health (SEARCH) in Maharashtra for imparting sexual and reproductive health
education, and creating awareness
 Granted a corpus fund to the Shree Ramakrishna Ashrama, Odisha, for the
development of efforts of the tribal people in Kahanandi district
 Granted a corpus fund to the Nehru SevaSangha, Banpur, Odisha. The interest
will be used for expansion of welfare activities of the children
 Made donations for library books to schools such as the Government High School
at Gudalanayanapalli, Kuppam
 Provided financial assistance to the People's Welfare Society, Ankola, Karnataka,
towards the maintenance of a hostel for students belonging to scheduled castes
and scheduled tribes
 Contributed towards the maintenance of SC / ST tribal student's hostels

 Completed the construction of 10,000 toilets in the backward districts of Karnataka
 Took up relief work at cyclone-devastated areas of Orissa, and drought-hit areas

  • 1. 1 AN OVERVIEW ON THE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY INITIATIVES BY INFOSYS LIMITED Varun Kesavan, Research Scholar, E – Mail Id – varunkesavan@yahoo.com INTRODUCTION Infosys Limited (formerly Infosys Technologies Limited) is an Indian multinational corporation that provides business consulting, information technology and outsourcing services. It has its headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.[4] Infosys is the second-largest Indian IT company by 2017 revenues and 596th largest public company in world in terms of revenue.[5] On April 19, 2018 its market capitalisation was $37.32 billion.[6] The credit rating of the company is A- (rating by Standard & Poor's).[7] HISTORY Infosys was established by 7 engineers in Pune, India with an initial capital of $250 in 1981.[8] It was registered as Infosys Consultants Private Limited on July 2, 1981.[9] In 1983, it relocated its office to Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
  • 2. 2 Name Change: The company changed its name to Infosys Technologies Private Limited in April 1992 and to Infosys Technologies Limited when it became a public limited company in June 1992. It was later renamed to Infosys Limited in June 2011.[10] Share listing:An initial public offer (IPO) in February 1993 with an offer price of ₹95 (equivalent to ₹490 or US$7.50 in 2017) per share against book value of ₹20 (equivalent to ₹100 or US$1.60 in 2017) per share. The Infosys IPO was under subscribed but it was "bailed out" by US investment bank Morgan Stanley which picked up 13% of equity at the offer price.[11] Its shares were listed in stock exchanges in June 1993 with trading opening at ₹145 (equivalent to ₹750 or US$11 in 2017) per share.[12] Its shares were listed on NASDAQ in 1999 through ADR route. The share price surged to ₹8,100 (equivalent to ₹25,000 or US$380 in 2017) by 1999 making it the costliest share on the market at the time. At that time, Infosys was among the 20 biggest companies by market capitalization on the NASDAQ.[11] The ADR listing was shifted from NASDAQ to NYSE Euronext to give its European investors better access to its stock.[13] Revenue growth: Its annual revenue touched US$100 million in 1999, US$1 billion in 2004 and US$10 billion in 2017.[9] Geographical expansion: In 2012, Infosys announced a new office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to service Harley-Davidson, being the 18th international office in the
  • 3. 3 United States.[14][15] Infosys hired 1,200 United States employees in 2011, and expanded the workforce by an additional 2,000 employees in 2012.[15] Product and portfolio expansion: In July 2014, Infosys started a product subsidiary called, EdgeVerve Systems., focusing on enterprise software products for business operations, customer service, procurement and commerce network domains.[16] In August 2015, the Finacle Global Banking Solutions assets were officially transferred from Infosys and became part of the product company EdgeVerve Systems product portfolio.[17] PRODUCTS & SERVICES It provides software development, maintenance and independent validation services to companies in finance, insurance, manufacturing and other domains. [18] One of its known products is Finacle which is a universal banking solution with various modules for retail & corporate banking Its key products and services are:  NIA - Next Generation Integrated AI Platform (formerly known as Mana)  Infosys Consulting - a global management consulting service  Infosys Information Platform (IIP)- Analytics platform
  • 4. 4  EdgeVerve Systems which includes Finacle, a global banking platform  Panaya Cloud Suite  Skava INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE Infosys had 84 sales and marketing offices and 116 development centers across the world as at March 31, 2017, with major presence in India, United States, China, Australia, Japan, Middle East and Europe. In 2017, 61.9%, 22.5% and 3.2% of its revenues were derived from projects in North America, Europe and India, respectively. Remaining 12.4% of revenues were derived from rest of the world SOCIAL OBLIGATION BY INFOSYS LTD. MISSION Infosys is committed to the communities in which it operates. This has led to the creation of Infosys Foundation to support the underprivileged sections of society. A not-for-profit initiative aimed at fulfilling the social responsibility of Infosys Ltd., the Infosys Foundation creates opportunities and strives towards a more equitable society.
  • 5. 5 Established in 1996, the Infosys Foundation supports programs in the areas of education, rural development, healthcare, arts and culture, and destitute care. Its mission is to work in remote regions of several states in India. The Infosys Foundation takes pride in working with all sections of society, selecting projects with infinite care, and working in areas that traditionally overlooked by society at large. At the outset, the Infosys Foundation implemented programs in Karnataka, and subsequently extended its coverage to Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

  • 9. 9 KEY INITIATIVES BY INFOSYS FOUNDATION HEALTHCARE Access to primary healthcare, awareness of basic hygiene, and treatment of underprivileged patients beg attention. The Infosys Foundation advances healthcare by augmenting existing healthcare infrastructure. Since its inception in 1996, the Infosys Foundation has constructed hospital wards, built dharmashalas (rest houses), and provided medical equipment to various hospitals across India. The Foundation has also donated medicines in addition to organizing health camps in rural India. The Infosys Foundation has donated more than INR 50 crore to expand the capacity of hospitals across India and is involved in several healthcare programs. VISION FOR A BLIND-FREE INDIA The Foundation’s association with SankaraNetralaya aims to provide financial aid to the economically weaker sections of society. Apart from converting Lady
  • 10. 10 Willingdon Hospital into the Jaslok Community Ophthalmic Centre and purchasing Heidelberg Retinal Angiogram II to diagnose retinal problems in diabetic patients, the Foundation has initiated the building of a new community hospital. This hospital aims to offer 12,000 free surgeries every year and will conduct training programs in a variety of fields associated with ophthalmology. CARING AND COMFORTING THE ILL Joining hands with the Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre (SVIRHC), the Foundation has contributed immensely towards the eradication of leprosy. Over the years, SVIRHC has treated 3,747 leprosy patients, 11,083 tuberculosis patients, and conducted free eye operations for 16,869 patients. The Foundation has also funded the BMCDT Bone Marrow Registry, Bengaluru, to establish a global bone marrow donor registry in India.
  • 11. 11 PERSONALIZED TREATMENT FOR PSYCHIATRIC AND NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) is an innovative institution offering comprehensive care service for patients suffering from psychiatric and neurological problems. At every step, Infosys Foundation has offered financial assistance, paving the way for high quality and affordable healthcare for patients who require it the most. GRANTS  Contributed funds to IIT Bombay for cancer research  Granted a corpus fund to the Public Health Foundation of India, New Delhi. The fund will be used to strengthen education, research, training, technology development, public communications, and practice in the area of public health in India
  • 12. 12  Granted funds to the Medical Research Foundation, Chennai for the construction of new building to serve as a community center for performing free cataract surgeries on the poor  Granted funds to the Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai towards the setting up of a cancer registry and screening project – the HPV vaccination program  Granted a corpus fund to the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, to set up an Infosys Chair and for research in new drug target discovery, and drugs targeting parasitical infections and cancer  Granted funds to the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (I), Chennai, towards establishing a dementia care and resource center and for promoting positive mental health in schools and colleges  Granted a corpus fund to the Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology, Bengaluru. The interest from the fund is being used to provide eye care and related surgeries for the poor  Funded the BMCDT Bone Marrow Registry, Bengaluru to establish a global bone marrow donor registry in India to help patients of South Eastern origin  Granted a corpus fund to the Bengaluru Kidney Foundation. The interest from the fund is being used for providing dialysis to the poor.  Granted a fund to the Bengaluru Hospice Trust – Karunashraya. The interest from the fund is used to provide free palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses  Granted funds to the SanginiMahilaSewa Cooperative Society, Mumbai for covering medical expenses of sex workers
  • 13. 13 CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUPPORT  Provided medicines to aged and poor patients suffering from cancer, leprosy, defects of the heart / kidney, mental illnesses, and other major disorders. Donated to organizations such as ChittaSanjeevini Charitable Trust to help distribute mental illness medicines to the poor in rural areas. Provided food for leprosy, tuberculosis, HIV-positive, and blind patients in Karnataka  Constructed a dharmashala at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bangalore  Donated ambulances to medical centers and hospitals in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu; Gadag, B.R. Hills, and Dakshina  Sponsored the purchase of a new CT scan machine, for the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh  Donated high-tech surgical equipment to hospitals in Mysore, Bijapur, Bellary, Bangalore, and Hubli in Karnataka, and air conditioners to the Burn Ward, at Victoria Hospital, Bangalore. Purchased incubators, air conditioning units, neonatal resuscitation equipment, and refrigerators for Bowring Hospital, Bangalore  Donated fluorescein angiography equipment to Shree Sharada Devi Eye Hospital, Pavagada, Karnataka ASSOCIATIONS & PROGRAMS  Helped cancer patients by sponsoring the Mobile Clinic for cancer detection in rural areas through HCG Foundation

The Infosys Foundation promotes primary education among underprivileged children through global partnerships INSPIRING AND MENTORING UPCOMING SCIENTISTS AND MATHEMATICIANS With the objective of encouraging students to pursue further studies and research across disciplines, especially in mathematics and science, Infosys Foundation has partnered with Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI). The grants from the Foundation have enabled the institution to enhance its infrastructure along with certain basic necessities for all student
  • 15. 15 PROVIDING A BOOST TO ENGINEERING STUDENTS Infosys Foundation started the Spark-IT program in September 2014. Specifically for engineering students, the three-month course aimed to provide technology and communication skills training to those who consistently performed well academically. The program received a tremendous response and attracted applicants from all over the country. Infosys Foundation also tied up with a number of institutes in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune in order to gain a wider reach. ELIMINATING HUNGER IN THE CLASSROOMS
  • 16. 16 One of the most effective ways to curb dropout rates in schools is by feeding its students so that they do not have to earn to pay for their meals. Nestled in the Bannerghatta Forest area of Bengaluru, Sri Ramakrishna Vidya Kendra is on a mission to end classroom hunger among children belonging to the below poverty line (BPL) segment as well as the local tribal community. GRANTS  Granted a corpus fund to the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bengaluru for instituting Chair professorships  Granted a corpus fund to the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bengaluru for setting up two chair professorships and a Special Training Program for 100 students  Donated money to schools such as ShivagangaGramaVikasaParishad for maintenance  Granted a corpus towards a drinking water project, Jaldhara, in Jaipur, along with funds for health checkups  Instituted a corpus fund whose interest will be used for the midday meal schemes in several schools in Salem, Kadapa, Mylapore, and Chapra  Granted a corpus fund to the Bangalore Association for Science Education, which will be used for the welfare of its employees

The interest accrued will be used to provide physiotherapy for special children and increase the salary of the teachers at the center  Granted a corpus to the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, for the 'Infosys Award' which carries cash awards for the winners of the Science Olympiads  Granted funds to Akanksha, the employee – led CSR initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Center. The funds will be used to manage the scholarship program called the PratibhaPoshak for needy students  Granted a corpus fund to the Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru.  Contributed to trusts such as Public Concern For Governance Trust to help promote good governance in school children  Contributed towards the AkshayaPatra Foundation midday meal program to cover capital expenses for its kitchen in Hyderabad CONTRIBUTINS & SUPPORT  Contributed towards the upliftment of rural schools to buy computers and help children learn soft skills  Contributed towards school / corpus funds, school furniture, equipment, and so on. Renovated Gandhinagar, Kottara St. Peter's School, and KapikadZillaPanchayat schools in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka.
  • 18. 18  Constructed buildings at KonappanaAgrahara, Bangalore, and donated money to Isha Education for construction of classrooms at Cuddalore Rural School and Isha School at Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu  Helped Bangalore Association for Science towards the development and maintenance of the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, including funding of the sky theater program  Constructed a science center at a rural school in the Kolar district of Karnataka – a one-of-its-kind center in the entire district  Under the Library for Every Rural School project, established more than 60,000 school libraries across Karnataka. More than 50,000 sets of books were donated in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Orissa  Supplied books and educational materials to Door Step, a mobile school, which provides free education to under-privileged children and constructed class rooms through Sparsh, Pune  Partnered with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to build a hostel for students at its Mumbai campus  Contributed to new self-employment courses at post-graduation and post- matriculation levels at the Nrupathunga Educational Institute, Hyderabad
  • 19. 19 ARTS AND CULTURE Ancient art forms can be preserved and passed down from generation to generation by showcasing the skills of artists. The Infosys Foundation promotes traditional art, dance and craft. The Foundation identifies underprivileged artists who don't have access to contacts or help. These include writers, painters, poets, and musicians from different walks of life. The Foundation assists them on a need basis by offering financial assistance, promoting their art, or helping them receive the much-deserved recognition. PRESERVING THE PAST FOR THE FUTURE Infosys Foundation has been a major partner of Raja DinkarKelkar Museum with the objective of building a ‘Museum City’ at par with international standards. Currently, the partnership has been successful in upgrading the conventional style of museum maintenance by digitizing its collections. The Foundation has also carried out special measures for the betterment of the employees by increasing their salaries and benefits.
  • 20. 20 PUMPING LIFE INTO THE AILING ART FORMS Established in 1995, the Uppinakudru Sri DevannaPadmanabha Kamath Memorial YakshaganaGombeyata Trust is a well-known association, which provides a platform for artists of the UppinakudruYakshagana puppetry group to pursue their interests and ensure that this unique art form is preserved. The Foundation has also enabled them to set up a puppetry academy. A HOLISTIC APPROACH TOWARDS THE MAINTENANCE OF MONUMENTS Monuments, a testimonial to our glorious past, have been slowly and steadily fading and deteriorating. With a view to help counter this trend, Infosys Foundation has been proactively taking measures to restore the Someshwara Archaeological Complex and 14 other heritage structures.

  • 23. 23 DESTITUTE CARE Support and vocational training help the destitute to live with dignity and earn a livelihood. The Infosys Foundation partners with non-government organizations (NGOs) to support destitute children and women. The Foundation supports programs of NGOs in rural areas across India: DIGNITY AND SUPPORT FOR DEVADASI COMMUNITY One of the key objectives of Infosys Foundation is to eliminate the exploitation of the devadasi community and ensure their rehabilitation by providing them with more opportunities. To enable a smooth transition into a new life, the Foundation has partnered with the Nava JeevanaMahilaOkkoota (NJMO), wherein devadasi children are offered healthcare facilities and schooling.
  • 24. 24 DIRECTING THE DISTURBED MINDS The Society for Assistance to Children in Difficult Situations (SATHI) provides a helping hand to runaway/street children. Infosys Foundation has been a major supporter of the organization, providing financial and other support. With its shelters in all major cities of the country, SATHI has been successful in rehabilitating 47,000 children and teenagers. STEPPING STONES FOR VISHWAS Based in Gurgaon, Vision for Health, Welfare and Special Needs (VISHWAS) caters to the disadvantaged and the marginalized communities. VISHWAS and Infosys Foundation have collaborated to provide elementary education for 300 children, including those with disabilities. The partnership offers support under community initiatives in areas such as education, health, and early childhood care.

The Infosys Foundation works with local administration to achieve community development goals. We construct roads, provide drainage systems and electricity, and rehabilitate flood-affected victims in rural areas. The Foundation has donated more than INR 40 crore for rural development and livelihood projects such as awareness campaigns on hygiene, sanitation, vocational training and entrepreneurship.
  • 27. 27 BRINGING TO LIGHT: MENTAL HEALTHCARE A shortage of doctors and the rising cost of medication have left many mentally ill patients deprived of the required treatment. The Chittaprakasha Charitable Trust provides residential rehabilitation centers for the mentally affected who are homeless. Infosys Foundation has helped in the construction of a 7,500 sq. ft. building at Chittadhama. HELPING THE ONES WHO DESERVE IT THE MOST The poorest part of a country is often the most neglected. The Ramakrishna Mission has set up a school in Aalo, an inaccessible and backward tribal area in the West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh. The center is more than a brick-
  • 28. 28 and-mortar school and is a kind of umbrella organization that includes 16 non- formal schools, coaching centers, a dairy, a bakery unit, a small farming facility, a dispensary, and a printing press. It also provides transportation for students to and from their villages. HIGHER STANDARDS OF EDUCATION FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED Agastya Foundation, the brainchild of a group of scientists, educators, and executives, instils creativity and encourages the imbibing of scientific knowledge among its students. Agastya and Infosys Foundation have together created higher standards of education for the country’s underprivileged by providing them with training workshops, mobile labs, and a hands-on educational methodology.
