 Mystery is something that is difficult to understand or explain.
 It can be a secret, riddle or a puzzle .
 Mysteries can be solved through critical thinking and analysis.
 Mystery novels focus around solving a specific case.
 A mystery is mostly involved in investigation activities.
What is Mystery ?
The Bermuda Triangle
The Bermuda Triangle is a large part of the
Atlantic Ocean that has been the source of many
plane-boat disappearances.
It extends between Miami, Puerto Rico and
Florida and extends over an area of 1.5 million sq
km.
 A number of explanations include :Extreme
climatic conditions, Alien abductions, Sea
Monsters and formation of Methane Hydrates.
 Many ships and planes like Flight 19, SS Marine
Sulphur Queen and USS Cyclopes have
disappeared in the so called Devil’s Triangle.
Christopher Columbus reported that the compass
acted strangely while sailing through the
triangle. He also observed a glowing globe of
light falling into the sea.
 Bruce Gernon, a pilot reported that while flying
through the triangle, he experienced a time warp
that took him to the period of French Revolution.
 Many of the witnesses report that in the long
cloud that is formed, the gravity becomes zero
and the radar screen moves erratically.
There is substantial evidence to show that many
of these disappearances have been exaggerated.
 However , The Bermuda Triangle remains one
of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the world.

The Wow Signal
The Wow! signal was a
strong narrowband radio signal detected by Jerry
R. Ehman on August 15, 1977 .This message was
sent from another world.
 Jerry.R.Ehman was working on a SETI project
at the Big Ear radio telescope of The Ohio State
University.
 It lasted for the full 72-second window that Big
Ear was able to observe it, but has not been
detected again.
 The signal has been the subject of significant
media attention during that time.
 Impressed by the relative resemblance of the
expected signature of an interstellar signal in
the antenna used, Ehman circled the signal on
the computer printout and wrote the comment
"Wow!" on its side, which became the name of
the signal itself .
 The frequency of the signal was found to be
1420.356 MHz where as the capacity of human
ear is only 20KHz.
 Many professionals and astronauts tried to
find the exact meaning of it but failed to do so.
 One interesting fact about this is even after
hundreds of attempts, no one succeeded in
detecting it once again.
 Atlantis is a legendary island first mentioned in
350 BC by Plato. He wrote about a beautiful island
in the Atlantic Ocean that went under the ocean
waves in one day and one night.
 For years, people have been searching for this
mysterious lost city. The exact location of the lost
city of Atlantis has been questioned by many
people.
 Plato mentioned that the founders of the Lost City
of Atlantis were half human and half god.
 There are two different theories regarding the
mystery of the Lost City of Atlantis.
The Lost City of Atlantis
The theories are :
Plato’s theory and Poseidon theory.
 Plato’s theory : After losing to Athens, Atlantis
sank in the sea in one day and one night of
misfortune.
 Poseidon theory : Atlantis was inhabited by rich
and wealthy people. They became greedy and
started fighting with each other for money.
Poseidon, the god of sea became mad and made
Atlantis sink into the sea.
Some people think that it is lost in Central
America and some think its near Andes mountains
in Bolivia. However its exact location has not been
found yet.
