Projects:
Migrating Linux infrastructure from RHEL6 to RHEL7:
As part of migrating our Linux servers from RHEL6 to RHEL7, handled below tasks.
 Migrated Infrastructure services like DNS, DHCP, Rsyslog to RHEL7.
 Worked along with in-house trading/development teams to test their
applications/workflow in RHEL7 and eventually get their servers migrated to RHEL7.
 Migrated servers in DMZ/co-locations which are running critical services.
 Evaluated and moved from tmpwatch to systemd-tmpfiles for managing all the temp
files.
 Installed the missing Perl/Python modules and software packages in RHEL7.
 Wrote a script for handling automatic startup/shutdown of applications during machine
reboot.
As part of this migration, we also moved from Sendmail to postfix as its lot simpler and less
cumbersome to manage.
 Migrated Sendmail server configuration to postfix without any email disruptions.
 Moved all the RHEL7 clients to use Postfix dumb client configuration.
 Implemented Postmulti on the servers so that one single server can handle emails for
multiple domains.
 Wrote a script to monitor various Postfix queues on Linux servers and to alert us so that
we can pro-actively fix the issues.
Backups Infrastructure Overhaul:
Our Backups infrastructure hardware was more than five years old and it was time to upgrade
the hardware/software to ensure that it’s stable/up to-date.
As part of the overhaul:
 Purchased servers with custom hardware based on our requirements keeping in mind
the current usage and future growth.
 Migrated the backups infra from Solaris to Linux and upgraded Netbackup from v6.5 to
v7.7.3.
 Configured LTO-7 drives for the Tape Library to replace the existing LTO-5 drives as it is
faster and LTO-7 Medias are 4X bigger in size.
 Replaced the old encryption devices ‘Netapp LKM/Brocade Encryption Switch’ as they
were EOL (End Of Life) and EOS (End Of Support) and moved to using Netbackup
KMS/Native LTO drive encryption.
