Glycerides are esters formed from glycerol and fatty acids. There are three main types: monoglycerides contain one fatty acid bonded to glycerol, diglycerides contain two fatty acids bonded to glycerol, and triglycerides contain three fatty acids bonded to glycerol. The structures of monoglycerides, diglycerides, and triglycerides were discussed, with diglycerides having two forms (1,2-diacylglycerol and 1,3-diacylglycerol) and the structure of triglycerides shown.
