• To be responsible for all in-bound logistics (raw materials and other input
materials) and out-bound logistics(despatch of finished products or any

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIE
• Oversees and ensures that all incoming goods (raw materials and other
input materials) are unloaded and stored efficiently and safely.
• Oversees the despatch operations (related to finished products) is carried
out efficiently, effectively and safely meeting customer requirements.

2. Negotiates freight contract with transport service providers to secure the most
commercially favorable terms to the company benefits.
Develops the company’s logistic/transport strategy to ensure the provision of
the best possible quality of service and maximize company profitability
Develops an integrated network of transport services (by road, rail or air/sea)
to ensure the best possible use is made of various modes of transport
Maintains regular contact with Production / Packaging operations to ensure
that there is effective coordination in meeting despatch targets and delivery
commitments
Provides advice and guidance to operational managers and staff on logistics,
transport costs, godown / Warehouse / Yard utilization or any other logistic
related issues
• Develops all necessary systems procedures to ensure that the material
handling and safety norms and standards are maintained and statutory
requirements are met.
• Plans all the Intra-plant Material shifting and Coordination with Intra-plant
HODs for same.
• Coordinate with Railways Authorities in concern to Rake Management and
other Liasoning works.
Skills:
1: Keep up track of Exchange / Yard & Plant yard to avoid Derailment.
2: Knowledge of procedures for efficient loading & unloading of racks & settlement of
Claim lodged if any.
3: Commercial Liaisoning & Co-ordination with Railway in any Division or up-to Zonal
level.
4: Co-ordinate with Railway officials to visit Railway siding & ensure all norms are
maintained in railway siding as per norms.
5: Inter department liaisoning with Raw Material/Sales/Dispatch Departments for Loading
& Unloading within allotted time.

I am associated with Sarda Energy & Minerals Limited located at Raipur (C.G.)
as a Manager ( Head - Logistics & Yard Management) since Sept. 2007 onwards.
Sarda Energy & Minerals Limited is in the business of manufacturing Sponge Iron,
Billets, Pellets, Power, and Ferro Alloys &.Coal Washery having a State of Art plant
capacity of 1200 TPD Sponge Iron, SMS, Rolling Mills & Captive Power Plant. The
operations are located in Siltara, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Big expansion plans are on the
way which includes Integrated Steel & Power Plant at Vishakapatnam and owns Captive
Coal mines & Iron Ore Mines.

3. Job Profile:
• Preparing documents, pertaining to Railway formalities,viz: Indemnity bond for
acknowledgment of Rake receiving,Permission for Escort, Completion of Rake
unloading and shifting of Cargo,Payment of Railway Freight / Demurrage,and
submission of RR etc. Activities of Railway Siding & Preparation of MIS Report.
• Execution of all inward logistics activities ( Import/ Domestics Sources) & Yard
Management. Planning of all logistics facilities and monitoring of receipts.
• Operations of domestic sources i.e.- Wagon Tippler ,Truck Tippler & Stacker
Reclaimer (co-ordination with Mechanical,Electrical, Wagon Tippler operator, Stacker
reclaimer operator, Loco operator ,Rly staff PWI,DTI,Point man,coupling/ D-coupling
staff, Rly Chief Controller,CSM,Driver,Guard, OHE,S&T, Switch-man, Rly. Track
Maintenance, Rly Track Fitness Certificate etc.) arrangement for transportation, Co-
ordination with Unloading Contractor, Transporter & Supplier. Transit status updating
etc.
• Co-ordination with subordinate staff for fulfillment of all commercial formalities before
handling of a rake for both inward and outward timely handling of rakes and ensure no
charges are levied such as Demurrage / Warfage / Punitive.
• Maintaining good rapo & liasoning with the local commercial staffs for positive support
to our company.
• Good record keeping of all the transaction with the Railway and allied agencies i.e.
rake to rake reconciliation of material, daily tracking & report of inward raw material,
freight payment to railways and cash management and allied activities.
• Effective care taken during rake handling such as - Rake Indent placement,
Submission of I-Bond with the railways in absence or RR s,Volumetric assessment
done with the outside agency, before loading of a rake check wagon condition and
declare sick wagons, prepare forwarding note with wagon particular and submit
Completion Memo (Drawn Out Memo) after rake handling etc.
• Maintain timely intimation to all concerned department and other agencies such as-
immediate Superiors, Handling Agent, Security, QC, RMHS,Plot Supervisor ,Third
Party Agencies etc.
• Monitor rake loading/ unloading so as to ensure no contamination with other product
lying at the platform/siding and maintain strict vigilance over movement of tippers and
keep records.
• Ensure timely payment of freight to the railways before making freight payment work
out the chargeable freight and after cross tally with Commercial Staff release DD`s.
• Maintain all other documents such as missing of Sick Wagons and obtain the desired
certificates from the Commercial staff for record.
• Reconciliation of all the transactions are done after rake handling is over.
• Knowledge on commercial matters and working out Freight,Punitive,Demurrage,
Warfage,Landed cost etc on routine basis. Co-ordinate with Railway Divisional Office
for Escort permission & Refund Claim of DC & WFC. Prepare MIS Report of all Inward
Material to Plant.
