n The rich learning experience in FCAD is the result of a mix of
traditional course delivery together with lectures, workshops and
webinars. This semester Professor Beth Agnew is hosting a weekly
webinar for Technical Communication students featuring an instructor
from India. Rajeev Jain is a prominent technical communicator with
extensive international experience. Steven Lin and John Gendi of
Information Technology Services and Chad Pilkey from the School of
Information and Communication Technology organized the webinar
using Big Blue Button, an open source conferencing system that Seneca’s
Centre for the Development of Open Technology helped develop.
And professional illustrator Matt James recently presented his
work to Independent Illustration students, and explained his creative
process illustrating children’s stories and working with book publishers.
Last year Matt won the Governor General’s Award for “Children’s
Illustration” for his work on the book Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers.

ROBERTOVAZQUEZ
During the summer semester Independent Photography student Roberto Vazquez has been
visiting classes and documenting Seneca’s learning environment in his role as a work/study
student. Pictured here is his photograph of a life drawing class in the Independent Illustration
program. Life Drawing is a core subject in many FCAD programs, providing students with
an introduction to various media and an understanding of perspective, anatomy, figurative
movement, colour, shape and form.
Zoran Dobric and his Fall Collection were profiled in the
August edition of Fashion Magazine. Zoran has taught
in the School of Fashion since 2008. His designs feature
an interfaith and multicultural theme (above), reflecting
international experience in his native Yugoslavia as well as
Italy and England.
