Introduction:
SAWERA through the financial & technical support of “CARE International Pakistan” implementing project name “Integrated
Humanitarian Assistance for flood affected populations” covering livelihood restoration and meeting early recovery needs in five
Union Councils of Dist Charsadda. The main components of the project are;
 LLH

o Provision of Cash for seed & fertilizers to 250 Farmers
o Provision of Cash grant/Vouchers to 75 females for LLH revival
o CFW for 400 beneficiaries, completing 4800 man-days
o Training of 50 beneficiaries on best agriculture and L/S practices
This eight months project started from 1st
December 2011, implementing in 05 U/C’s of district Charsadda in above mention sectors
funded by ADH (German Donor). This report is focused on the verification of the selected beneficiaries for livelihood activities
(Agri Inputs, Cash Grant & CFW) that has been completed by SAWERA. Especially the beneficiary for Agri Inputs, Cash For Work &
Cash Grant.
Methodology:
The primary methodology employed includes;
o Discussion with the CFW beneficiaries and supervisors.
o Participant Observation, &
o Discussion with different DRR training participants

all the labors sign it daily.
This work started from 1st
June 2012 and will end on12th
June 2012, with one day
holiday on Friday.
According to beneficiaries this
channel irrigate 900 Acre of
land of 300 farmers, this work
will increase flow of water in
channel and will get enough
water in less time to irrigate
land. Few farmers have small
land holding while some of

All the participants introduce
their selves, both the trainers,
SAWERA staff and community
members (I.e. Name, Village
name, their position in the
CBO/Officer, education, their
likes & dislikes and their
profession etc) in details.

colors flesh cards (Blue color
for card for writing fears and
yellow color flesh card for
writing expectation from the
training) and after collecting
both the flesh cards from the

definitions of DRR and DRM

which special focus on

Khan had received cash
grant under the ADH-II
project from SAWERA.
Her family consists of 7
members. She has 5
children (3 daughters &
2 sons). Her husband
belongs to daily wages
and according to her, his
monthly income is 5000
per month. She said that
it was difficult for them
to earn enough
livelihoods for his family.
She said that she had 10
buy something according to
their previous experiences. All
the credit goes to SAWERA
livelihood team and
recommended to carry on
follow up visit of the maximum
livelihood beneficiaries, to
write some successful stories.
 The selected cash grant
beneficiary are according to
the project fixed selection
criteria, which shows the
devotion of livelihood

2. Nahayat Bibi/Mir
Rehman also received
cash grant from
SAWERA. She belongs
to a poor family with 10
members. She has
previous 15 years
experience of tailoring in
the villages. She said
that, in past she made
cloths in the village by
the sewing machine of
the customers, from
which she received
minimum amounts. After
receiving the cash grant
from SAWERA she
bought their own sewing
machine and made cloths
 Her selection is appreciated
and SAWERA livelihood
officer and Project Manager
can initiate some perfect case
studies.

she think to open a
center where she teach
tailoring to the villagers

3. Halima/Shams Gul is one
of the cash grant
beneficiaries who
recived money from
SAWERA during the
project. Her family
consists of 04 members
and the only supporter
of their family by sewing
cloths of the villagers.
After the cash grant she
bough sewing machine
for herself and also
initiate a small grocery
shop in her house.

monthly incomes

4. Shaheen
Bagham/Ghafoor Ali
received cash grant
during the project. Her
family consists of 11
members. Her husband
is the only supporter of
her family and her
husband monthly income
are 4500 per month
according to her. She
belongs to a poor family
and disable too. She
bought goats on the
received money and said
that, she is selling milk of
the goats and it will be a
continuous income for
her family, which
provides helped in
earning livelihood to
their family members.
5. Sajida/ Gul Akbar are a
beneficiary who received
cash grant support to
earning better income
for their family during
the ADH-II project. She
is 3 daughters and 3
sons. She said that she
had the skills of tailoring,

background, she didn’t
have enough money to
buy sewing machine
from which she make
cloth. She said that, her
husband was the only
supporter of her family,
but after received cash
grant support she
bought sewing machine
on the money and start
tailoring. She said that
she is earning sound
money which supports
her in providing
livelihood to her family.
6. Mohsin
Bagham/Mohammad
Zafar is selected as a
beneficiary, who
received cash grant from
SAWERA during the
ADH-II project. She is
widow and the only
supporter of her
children. She belongs to
very poor families and
even supported by the
villagers. She having
experience of tailoring

beneficiaries.

machine. She said that
she will provide her own
machine to the villager
and receive rent on daily
bases from which she
supports her family. She
appreciated the efforts
of SAWERA field staff.

“Sheikhan” U/C “Dheri
Zardad”.
1. Dil-Ara/Sarfarz Khan is a
beneficiary who received
the cash grant support
from SAWERA. She is
widow with 6 children.
She is supported by her
underage son, who
engaged in daily wager.
She said that his monthly
income is 4000. After
received the cash grand

buffalo calf and said that
in future when the calf
grow up will use it as
means of transportation
for the local people, from
whom she received fare.
She future, said that
during the crop cutting
season the people use to
hire these buffalos to
reached their crops to
local market, which
ultimately increased her
family incomes.
2. Bagham/Dilawar Khan
received cash grant
support during the
project. She is widow
with 5 children (4
daughters & 1 son). Her
son engaged in daily
wages a earn 4000 per
months, from which she
spends her life. She said
that she had previous
experience of cow
rearing and bought cow
on the received grant.
She said that she will sell
the milk and also present

Total target beneficiaries for
Agri input support are 250 and
249 farmer recived seeds and
fertilizers, (01 farmer was
absent in the time of cash
disbursement). All the
randomly selected agri support
beneficiaries have the proper
purchasing fertilizer receipts of
a local shop.
1. Ajab Khan is a
beneficiary who
recived cash support
from SAWERA for
Agri input, after that he
avail 1 bag DAP and 1
bad Sona Uria on the
received amount for
agri inputs.
 The selected beneficiaries
properly utilized the given
money support for agri
inputs, which shows the
strong mobilization of the
livelihood sawera team. The
presences of fertilizer
purchase receipts at the
time monitoring shows their
deservingness and poverty
of the selected beneficiaries
that directly points the hard
work of sawera livelihood
team in the selection
process of the beneficiaries.
Too much appreciated.

2. Muslim khan cultivating
4 Jerb agriculture land
on AJARA, from which
he recived 50% of the
total annual incomes.
He also gives same
feedback and pay
thanks to sawera for
their in time support
and cooperation.
3. Fazal Hakim had also
received money
support for agri inputs
from sawera.
According to him he
has 5 jarib on AJARA
and he receives 50% of
total annual income.
He said that on the
received amount for
 Good selection of the
selected beneficiaries.

bag of Sona and 1 bag
of DAP and utilized it
on their cultivated land.
He praised and
appreciated the
livelihood sawera team
efforts for supporting
the most deserving and
vulnerable farmers
during the project.

The main components of the project are;  LLH
  • 2. 2 o Provision of Cash for seed & fertilizers to 250 Farmers o Provision of Cash grant/Vouchers to 75 females for LLH revival o CFW for 400 beneficiaries, completing 4800 man-days o Training of 50 beneficiaries on best agriculture and L/S practices This eight months project started from 1st December 2011, implementing in 05 U/C’s of district Charsadda in above mention sectors funded by ADH (German Donor). This report is focused on the verification of the selected beneficiaries for livelihood activities (Agri Inputs, Cash Grant & CFW) that has been completed by SAWERA. Especially the beneficiary for Agri Inputs, Cash For Work & Cash Grant. Methodology: The primary methodology employed includes; o Discussion with the CFW beneficiaries and supervisors. o Participant Observation, & o Discussion with different DRR training participants Output Activities Achievement To date Observation Recommendations Timeframe Providing support to flood affected persons (5425 Beneficiaries for livelihood support) through restoration/reviving of their livelihoods in five Union Councils District Charsada of KPK  400 people engage in cash for work, who will work 12 days as cash for work beneficiaries, and will receive 360PKR per day. “Cash For Work” Out of 4800 man days, 4513 Cash For Work man days have been completed in the project selected villages, by both male & female. 113 CFW Monitoring Visit of the CFW Scheme, Village Kot Kandara U/C “Tarnab”. 15 male beneficiaries working on irrigation channel cleaning A total of 05 km channel will be cleaned / de-silted and 15 male will work for 12 days on various branches of irrigation  Good selection of site and local labors by team and community  The site selection was good and the work done by the CFW beneficiaries are appreciated The process of Cash For Work have to complete before 15th June, 2012
  • 3. 3 beneficiaries received their payments on 22nd May 2012, through “Tameer Bank”. channel with different depth & breadth. Today is the 6th working day on the selected irrigation channels. Labors were selected and agreed on Rs.360/- per day rate. Labors work 06 days a week from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM with 30 minutes lunch and prayer break. Proper attendance has been maintained by supervisor and all the labors sign it daily. This work started from 1st June 2012 and will end on12th June 2012, with one day holiday on Friday. According to beneficiaries this channel irrigate 900 Acre of land of 300 farmers, this work will increase flow of water in channel and will get enough water in less time to irrigate land. Few farmers have small land holding while some of  Appreciated the livelihood efforts in the selection of local people as CFW beneficiaries  Working timing is good  Mobilization was good and the attendance maintenance is perfect  Appreciated  The numbers of beneficial community members (I.e. daily wagers as cash for work beneficiaries and farmers) are appreciated and the livelihood team should select suchlike channels for de-silting, from which enormous numbers

Providing enabling environment to the flood affected people through different DRR initiatives, advocacy, institutional building and strengthening, capacity building awareness and networking in five  300 persons received training on DRR in 05 union councils of the district charsadda KPK. 190 persons (100male & 90female) out of 300 persons received training on DRR in the project targeted 19 villages of the 05 union councils. Members of 19 community based organization got training on DRR. Monitoring Visit of the DRR Session at village “Agra” Union Council “Agra”. The training formally started with the recitation of the Holly Quran at the above mention village at 09:15am and finished at 12:45pm.  The training starting on the fixed time, which is appreciated and SAWERA team members must follow it in the coming DRR training. The remaining DRR training for the both male and female community members must completed by 20th June, 2012.
  • 5. 5 Union Councils of District Charsada. The numbers of participants were 30. All the participants introduce their selves, both the trainers, SAWERA staff and community members (I.e. Name, Village name, their position in the CBO/Officer, education, their likes & dislikes and their profession etc) in details. Formal norms and objectives for the training were sit. Participants were given two colors flesh cards (Blue color for card for writing fears and yellow color flesh card for writing expectation from the training) and after collecting both the flesh cards from the training participants, we points common views of the participants, like After, that Mr. Iftikhar Hygiene Promoter SAWERA briefly introduce CARE & SAWERA, history of both the organization, CARE &  Good.  The introduction session was very good.  The fixed norms for the training were good and all the participants strongly followed the fixed norms of the training.  Appreciated too much.
  • 6. 6 SAWERA partnership, SAWERA past project with the financial & technical support of CARE KPK and briefly informed the participants about the SAWERA-ADH-II project in detail, its components etc. Thereafter, Ms. Ghulam Abas and Hayat Ullah (DRR trainers) started in local language about the DRR. At first he shared some definitions of DRR and DRM like, The main topics discussed with participants are,  Definition of DRR & DRM  Global Disaster Risk Trained, with special emphasis on KPK Pakistan.  Hyogo Framework of Action was formed, which special focus on these points,  National Disaster  Brief introduction of SAWERA and CARE by Mr. “Iftikhar” hygiene promoter SAWERA is appreciated.  The design training module was very good and it will be better, if the designed module translated in Urdu/Pashto language for better understanding of the participants. (For PM SAWERA and SAWERA Field Team).

Mr. Sadarat Shah (Baba Falahi Committee) said that the training was very good and especially practical exercise on first aid was appreciated. 2. Mr. Sajid and Samin Jan (Kushal Taraqati Committee & Charagh Committee) said that the training was very informative and I leant new ideas about DRR. use of first aid box. Community members’ active participation and their positive feedbacks are appreciated. Providing support to flood affected persons (5425 Beneficiaries for livelihood support) through restoration/reviving  75 persons receive cash grant support to enhance their skills in other livelihood revival activities in five union councils of “Cash Grant” 75 persons (female) received cash grant. All the randomly selected beneficiaries appreciated SAWERA for their positive inputs, to boot up their present livelihood conduction. The beneficiated livelihood beneficiaries have knowledge about SAWERA & CARE International In Pakistan. 1. Nusrat Bagham/Noor Khan had received cash grant under the ADH-II project from SAWERA. Her family consists of 7 members. She has 5 children (3 daughters & 2 sons). Her husband belongs to daily wages and according to her, his monthly income is 5000 per month. She said that it was difficult for them to earn enough livelihoods for his family. She said that she had 10 buy something according to their previous experiences. All the credit goes to SAWERA livelihood team and recommended to carry on follow up visit of the maximum livelihood beneficiaries, to write some successful stories.  The selected cash grant beneficiary are according to the project fixed selection criteria, which shows the devotion of livelihood SAWERA team with the organization and their respective post.   • 11. 11 years experience of rearing livestock and after received cash grant. She bought a cow with calf, from which she sells milk and also using it for themselves. She said that by selling milk she earns reasonable money to support her husband and their combine monthly incomes are increasing. 2. Nahayat Bibi/Mir Rehman also received cash grant from SAWERA. She belongs to a poor family with 10 members. She has previous 15 years experience of tailoring in the villages. She said that, in past she made cloths in the village by the sewing machine of the customers, from which she received minimum amounts. After receiving the cash grant from SAWERA she bought their own sewing machine and made cloths  Her selection is appreciated and SAWERA livelihood officer and Project Manager can initiate some perfect case studies.
  • 12. 12 for the villagers with full amount. She said that she also provide her sewing machine to villagers on rent and receive money accordingly. She said that now her income increased and in future she think to open a center where she teach tailoring to the villagers and from them, she will take fee. 3. Halima/Shams Gul is one of the cash grant beneficiaries who recived money from SAWERA during the project. Her family consists of 04 members and the only supporter of their family by sewing cloths of the villagers. After the cash grant she bough sewing machine for herself and also initiate a small grocery shop in her house. Which increase her monthly incomes  As above.
  • 13. 13 4. Shaheen Bagham/Ghafoor Ali received cash grant during the project. Her family consists of 11 members. Her husband is the only supporter of her family and her husband monthly income are 4500 per month according to her. She belongs to a poor family and disable too. She bought goats on the received money and said that, she is selling milk of the goats and it will be a continuous income for her family, which provides helped in earning livelihood to their family members. 5. Sajida/ Gul Akbar are a beneficiary who received cash grant support to earning better income for their family during the ADH-II project. She is 3 daughters and 3 sons. She said that she had the skills of tailoring,  Appreciated.  As above.
  • 14. 14 but due to poor family background, she didn’t have enough money to buy sewing machine from which she make cloth. She said that, her husband was the only supporter of her family, but after received cash grant support she bought sewing machine on the money and start tailoring. She said that she is earning sound money which supports her in providing livelihood to her family. 6. Mohsin Bagham/Mohammad Zafar is selected as a beneficiary, who received cash grant from SAWERA during the ADH-II project. She is widow and the only supporter of her children. She belongs to very poor families and even supported by the villagers. She having experience of tailoring  Good selection of the beneficiaries.
  • 15. 15 and made cloths for the villagers, from which she provide livelihood to her family. After the cash grant, she bought sewing machine. She said that she will provide her own machine to the villager and receive rent on daily bases from which she supports her family. She appreciated the efforts of SAWERA field staff. Monitoring Visit of the beneficiated Cash Grant Beneficiaries at village “Sheikhan” U/C “Dheri Zardad”. 1. Dil-Ara/Sarfarz Khan is a beneficiary who received the cash grant support from SAWERA. She is widow with 6 children. She is supported by her underage son, who engaged in daily wager. She said that his monthly income is 4000. After received the cash grand  Good.
  • 16. 16 support she bought a buffalo calf and said that in future when the calf grow up will use it as means of transportation for the local people, from whom she received fare. She future, said that during the crop cutting season the people use to hire these buffalos to reached their crops to local market, which ultimately increased her family incomes. 2. Bagham/Dilawar Khan received cash grant support during the project. She is widow with 5 children (4 daughters & 1 son). Her son engaged in daily wages a earn 4000 per months, from which she spends her life. She said that she had previous experience of cow rearing and bought cow on the received grant. She said that she will sell the milk and also present  As above.

Providing support to flood affected persons (5425 Beneficiaries for livelihood support) through restoration/reviving of their livelihoods in five Union Councils District Charsada of KPK  250 Farmers received seeds & fertilizer in the project selected villages in five union councils of the District Charsada KPK. “Agri Inputs” 249 famers out of 250 received Agri input support. Monitoring Visit of the beneficiated Cash Grant Beneficiaries at village “Shahid Abad” U/C “Dheri Zardad”. Total target beneficiaries for Agri input support are 250 and 249 farmer recived seeds and fertilizers, (01 farmer was absent in the time of cash disbursement). All the randomly selected agri support beneficiaries have the proper purchasing fertilizer receipts of a local shop. 1. Ajab Khan is a beneficiary who recived cash support from SAWERA for Agri input, after that he avail 1 bag DAP and 1 bad Sona Uria on the received amount for agri inputs.  The selected beneficiaries properly utilized the given money support for agri inputs, which shows the strong mobilization of the livelihood sawera team. The presences of fertilizer purchase receipts at the time monitoring shows their deservingness and poverty of the selected beneficiaries that directly points the hard work of sawera livelihood team in the selection process of the beneficiaries. Too much appreciated.
  • 18. 18 He persoude that sawera provide enough support to the vurnable formers on time, in the way they can utilize to increase our agriculture production. 2. Muslim khan cultivating 4 Jerb agriculture land on AJARA, from which he recived 50% of the total annual incomes. He also gives same feedback and pay thanks to sawera for their in time support and cooperation. 3. Fazal Hakim had also received money support for agri inputs from sawera. According to him he has 5 jarib on AJARA and he receives 50% of total annual income. He said that on the received amount for  Good selection of the selected beneficiaries.  As above.
  • 19. 19 agri inputs he bought 1 bag of Sona and 1 bag of DAP and utilized it on their cultivated land. He praised and appreciated the livelihood sawera team efforts for supporting the most deserving and vulnerable farmers during the project. Annexes: 1.
