Research Projects
Treatment of refinery waste water
Analyzed the organics and inorganics present in the wastewater of refinery industries that helps
in identifying the treatment techniques which the industry has to adopt to meet the industrial
norms set by the local governing body.
Extracted organics present in the refinery waste water using solvent method and analyze the
organic layer to derive at the composition using GC-MS.
3. Estimated toxic chemicals present in wastewater by colorimetric analysis.
Processing of distillery sludge
Estimated the total organic content present in the sludge before and after treatment.
Identified the presence of heavy metal ions/ toxins in the sludge and supported the technology
team in identifying the appropriate chemical treatment method.
Helped industry in maintaining the norms set by the government by constant analysis of water
samples.
Amine partitioning in refinery desalter unit
Investigated & evaluated amine partitioning into organic phase for scaling up of the same in
refinery.
Dust control
Determined the molecular weights of the different polymers used for controlling dust.
Analyzed and determined the form of sugars present in the chemicals used for controlling dust.
Investigating the chemical network that helps in improving the binding ability
Elemental analysis of water samples, alloys & ceramic materials:
Determined and quantified various elements present in very low concentrations (ppm and ppb)
in drinking water as well as in industrial waste using spectroscopic techniques.
Performed elemental analysis for to determine the composition of coating materials used in
lighting bulbs& Compositional analysis of alloys used in gas turbines and air-craft turbines
Quantified the presence of cations and anions like chloride and iodide in battery cells.
Analyzed anions for corrosion related testing in Gas turbines.
