Supervisor (Full Time)
o Assumes the responsibility of the Director in her absence
Human Resource Management (Teacher, supply staff and support staff, volunteer,
OWS, high school, apprentices, practicum student documentation)
 Professional development(joint)
 Staff supervision
1. Hiring Co-ordinate recruitment and orientation of supply
teachers, COOP student, Apprentices, High school students,
support staff
2. Orientation - FRAN Practicum Students
3. Behaviour Management Observations for all primary staff
throughout the year
4. Coordinate Ministry of Education personnel documentation
for annual licensing for all staff
5. Daily inspections of playrooms and daily documentation
6. Daily observation of staff that support How Does Learning
Happen, College of ECE Code of Ethics and the Standards of
Practice
 Performance management including discipline
o Proactively review processes before embarking on major restructuring or
initiatives by debating the risks and rewards with all staff
o Environmental scans to better understand the changes in the field of ECE
Individual, team and area meetings
1. Educate and provide information re: curriculum, policy
2. Coaching
3. Mediation with staff – personal crisis, conflict resolution,
disputes, raising self-awareness and confidence, resiliency
4. Mentoring
5. Review and update policies
6. Discuss staff current and long term goals as per GOAL to
improve performance and development
7. Developing and supporting long term academic goals ie
degree programs, Masters
8. Provide written and verbal productive feedback
9. Celebrate staff accomplishments and hard work
10. Discuss program needs and children
11. Provide support for parent meetings
 Respond to all staff/child/family needs throughout the day
1. Medication sign off, accident reports – child/staff
2. Illness (child or staff)
3. Support with challenging children
4. Policy
5. Parental concerns
6. Scheduling conflicts
7. Observation of children (behaviour)
8. Observation of staff (behaviour)
9. Assume any responsibility in the CCLC ie cook, scheduling,
teaching, Front Office Administration
o Distribute annual requests for staff, child holidays
o Determine staffing assignments in conjunction with the Director
Co -manage daily staff scheduling and absence requests through electronic system,
Celayix
 Accept time off requests for approval by Director
 Approves staff leaving early and schedules accordingly, in
consultation with the Director as needed
 Requests staff to modify their work day, by staying later or having
shorter lunch, to ensure ratios are met at all times
 Suggestions to web developers to enhance the capabilities of the
program
 Work with Financial Administrator in stream lining payroll with
Ceylaix
o Create and maintain D2L Course (CCLC Resource Site) for staff and students
External relations, ie, the public face of the Guelph Child Care and Learning Centre
 County of Wellington Operators’ meetings
 Wellington County Licensed Child Care Centres
 Ministry of Education (MoE)
 College of Early Childhood Educators – committee member
 Liaison with support agencies (with Director)
 Wellington, Guelph Dufferin Health Unit
 Wellington County Family and Children Services
 Wellington Child Care Services
o County of Wellington Supervisors’ meetings
o County of Wellington Operators’ Meetings
o OEYC meetings – ie Health Unit, CECE, AECEO

o Serious Occurrences
 Initial contact with and follow up with Ministry of Education
o Oversees the reporting and documentation of suspected or alleged child
abuse and providing support to both family and staff
o Wait list management according to CCLC priority
 Respond to parent inquiries about wait times and all general inquiries
about the CCLC program
o Enrolment management to maximize revenue
 Scheduling the transition of the children from age group to age group
 Manage parent requests for changes to schedules
 Create and distribute monthly program lists to all staff
o Schedule and conduct new parent tours and co-ordinate documentation
o Draft, update and implement electronic intake documentation
o Provide electronic content related to vacancies and processes for enrolment
changes
Parent Relations
 Provide information about and connections to University and
community agencies and services
 Diffuse angry, frustrated or confused parental concerns in a timely
manner
 Provide families with updated changes in child care legislation and
advocacy
 Establish authentic, caring and responsive relationships with families
 Supporting dialogue between families and Child Care Subsidy
 Providing information for international families with the University,
Guelph Community and Ontario Early Years Centre
Physical plant and playground management
 Monthly, seasonal and annual checks
 3rd party playground check
 Coordinate playground and physical plant repairs with Physical
Resources or any 3rd party
 Water quality testing
 Respond to Fire Safety concerns
 Respond to Wellington Guelph Dufferin Health Unit
o Oversees health & safety committee with staff member
o Draft and update policies and procedures in accordance to Ministry of
Education, College of Early Childhood Educators, Wellington, Dufferin,
Guelph Public Health and University of Guelph, Wellington County Family and
Children Services mandates and various key stake holders
o Create and review operational manuals
o Act as back up for select financial administrative duties
o Other duties as assigned
