The international colour chart is a numbered system that tells you how dark a hair
tint is (first number), and what tones are present (second number).
3. The colour wheel shows you what
colours are opposite each other and
therefore cancel each other out.
There are 3 levels of tone:
1. Primary (Depth/P)
2. Secondary (Depth/PS)
3. Tertiary (Depth/PST)
The depth of the hair colour is
determined by how many black and
brown pigments are in the hair.
A hair tint can have all 3 levels of tone
present
