We teach art, but what can we learn by making art? Let’s explore the benefits of personal practice to enhance our lives. Happy teacher = happy students. Session includes hands-on exercises and participant solution generation.
2. New Perspectives in Art Education
The goal of this workshop is to create a personal
culture of improvement by empowering
participants with fresh attitudes and mindsets.
Scholarship for arts educators can take many
enjoyable artistic forms and this ongoing learning
is vital for both pedagogical relevance and
enjoyment of life.
8. Please discuss with your partner
fundamental concepts you hope to
teach your students, beyond the
skills of using art tools.
9.
10. It is sometimes easier to
act your way to right thinking,
rather than to think your way
to right acting.
11. Draw a 3 inch square.
For three minutes, keep your
pencil/pen moving continuously
within in the square
12. Please discuss with your partner
any social issues or political causes
that interest you, along the
possibilities for related creative
expression.
13. I invite you to briefly jot down
some experiences you may have
had with art (visual, music,
movies, theater, dance, etc.) that
have shifted your mood.
14. Please discuss in your groups:
Individual artworks that inspire you.
Might you or have you ever “road tested”
assignments that you give to students?
