SURVEILLANCE CAMERA
SURVEI LLANCE CAM ERA
Continuous observation of a place , person, group or ongoing
activities in order to gathering information. This is also known
as CCTV( closed circuit television) camera.
MAIN PURPOSE
A surveillance camera is used in surveillance to monitor public or
private areas that need to be monitored for security reasons. Modern
security cameras use closed-circuit television (CCTV) technology,
which employs video cameras that transmit signals to a specific
limited set of monitors.
TYPES
Surveillance cameras are being installed everywhere for purpose of
security and crime prevention and detection. There are many types
of surveillance cameras are available for this purpose.
INDOOR CAMERA
OUTDOOR CAMERA
IR DAY/NIGHT CAMERA
DOME CAMERA
BULLET CAMERA
HIDDEN CAMERA
PAN TILT ZOOM CAMERA
TYPES OF CCTV SYSTEMS
 CCTV Systems are broadly divided into two types. These are:
• Wired CCTV System
• Wireless CCTV System
WIRED CCTV SYSTEM
Wired CCTV systems connect the camera to the recording device
and monitor with the help of standard coaxial cables or Unshielded
Twisted Pair(UTP) cables or fiber optic cables. The image data is
usually transmitted over a coaxial cable. The signal transmitted over
these cables is then fed into a monitor or set of monitors if the image
needs to be visible indifferent locations.
WIRELESS CCTV SYSTEM
Basically, Wireless CCTV systems are similar to wired CCTV
systems. The difference is that a radio transmitter is attached to the
camera. A radio receiver then attached to the input on the monitor
system or computer. Wireless systems are useful when the distance
between the camera and the monitor is too far to be practical for a
cable run.
SSLSD CCTV
Camera System
Two Parts
1. Main Building ( 64 Analog Cameras up and
working/shortcomings)
2. New Building (33 Analog Cameras not properly being
monitored due to incomplete system completion)
Pros and Cons
1. Difficulties of finding objects identified by school incidents ( night
vision ,when zooming objects it blurs)
2. In the event of a malfunction, it will take a long time to repair
3. Primary section (New Building) CCTV system is not frequently
monitored
4. Blind spot / hidden zones
5. Unexpected camera faults / angle change

Recommendation for the current
CCTV system
• Choosing appropriate devices ( for outdoor monitoring selecting
higher resolution wide angle cameras)
• Maintenance (keeping the system working at its full potential
and reducing the time of non operating time)
• What areas are going to be monitored (upgrading the current
system by adding extra cameras for hidden areas )
cont.…
• How long will the video footage be stored on the hard disk (storage
capacity -20 days/new backing storage )
• Consequence of introducing new CCTV Monitors (skipping when
playing backups)
• What environmental conditions will devices have to work in (power
fluctuation, hot sun, rainy conditions)
• What are the required resolutions and frame rates of images from
different areas (possibility of increasing frame rate specially in
indoor/outdoor cameras)
Playback skipping
