Editor's Notes
Traditional fire detection products function by using either analogue smoke detectors or heat detectors. They are a simple and effective solution for fire detection in small, indoor spaces but are completely infeasible for monitoring a large scale outdoor environment.
For example, our competitors smoke detectors have a coverage of 112 meters squared and their heat detectors have a coverage of 56.3 meters squared. [https://integratek.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Integratek-Fire-Systems-Design-Guide.pdf]
To monitor an area like the Table Mountain National Park, covering approximately 221 km squared of land, [https://www.sanparks.org/parks/table_mountain/]
it would therefore require nearly 2000 smoke detectors or 4000 heat detectors just to cover the region. The same region can be monitored by one or two dozen Fire Finders.
Traditional sensors are simply not viable in cases in which large areas of land mass needs to be monitored and thats exactly where our Image Classification Technology thrives. Through the use of wide angle lenses and tactical placement of devices, Fire Finder is able to achieve what was previously impossible and easily monitor extremely large areas of land mass.
Simply put, there is no technology commercially available that comes close to doing what Fire Finder does.
Opting for an optical fire detection solution, not only greatly reduces the costs of monitoring large areas, but can be an invaluable tool to fire-fighters.
Traditional fire detectors have no system in place to report on the progression of fires, nor the ability to check for accidental false alarms.
Fire Finder will notify the fire department in the case of a fire and allow them to continuously monitor the progression of the fire via live stream so that they can be better prepared, always knowing exactly what they are going up against. This monitoring system also has the ability to act as a fail safe in the case of an accidental false alarm being triggered.
Although we intend to launch Fire Finder in the Table Mountain National Reserve, the market for it is global and massive!
Fire Finder finds its place as the go-to product in any environment in which large scale fire detection is required with our projected sales primarily coming from protection of farmland, national parks, forests, warehouses as well as the private property sector.
We are launching unopposed into a massive market which is expected to continue to grow each year as climate change and land-use change are making wildfires increasingly common.
