Dinacharya, Ritucharya, Sadvritta.
• Management of common ailments using home remedies:

 Constipation
 Adolescent health care
 Ante-natal care
 Post-natal care
 Geriatric care

4. Dinacharya
• Detailed guidelines for staying healthy, happy and to align our
daily routines with the rhythm of nature.
• Implementation of daily routine in a manner that would neither
cause undue stress to life while eventually accommodating the
practices that would sustain health.

5. Ritucharya
• lifestyle modulation to cope with the impact on health caused
by seasonal changes.
• It enables us to strengthen innate capability to resist ailments
that may happen due to seasonal changes.
• The healthy dietary practices and lifestyle specified for each
Ritu should be followed.

6. Sadvritta
• Certain codes of conduct known as Sadvritta are advocated in
Ayurveda.
• These are applicable to people of all age groups, at all times
and at all places.
• Following these codes of conduct helps to live a healthy, happy
and fulfilling life.

7. Home remedies
• For prevention of diseases and management of minor illnesses
• Should not be used as a substitute for standard treatment
• Should not be used in major diseases or life threatening conditions
• The herbs should be properly washed and dried in shade
• The dosage may be adjusted with slight alterations
• A minimum gap of 30 minutes in case of combined use / add on

8. Common Cold
• Steam inhalation
• Gargle with warm saline water
• Use Turmeric, Ginger and Tulasi to boost immunity
• Keep away from others who are having symptoms
• Cover mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing
• Use oil in the nostrils or ears
• Drink warm water
• Decoction of ginger, black pepper and Tulsi leaves
• Dalchini (Cinnamon) powder with honey

9. Cough
• Keep small piece of Mulethi (licorice) in mouth in case of dry cough
• Decoction of leaves of Vasa (Adhatoda vasica)
• Hot milk with turmeric powder
• One teaspoon juice of Ginger and Tulasi with honey
• Steam inhalation / saline water gargling
• In case of Cough associated with breathing problems, high fever, chest pain or
of more than 2 weeks etc., seek medical advice from a qualified medical
practitioner for further screening and treatment.

10. Fever
• Light and warm home cooked food
• Appropriate rest
• Cold sponging if fever is above 100 0 C
• Decoction of Leaves of Chirayata (Swertia chirata)
• Decoction of whole plant of Nagarmotha (Cyperus rotondus)
• Warm decoction of crushed coriander seeds or Giloy stem
• One tea spoon juice of Tulsi (Basil) leaves and Ginger with honey
• Home remedy should be used for mild fever (of up to 1010 C) that too only
when associated with mild symptoms like cold or body ache.

11. Bronchial Asthma
• Light and warm food at night
• Warm water gargling
• Steam inhalation
• Yoga / Pranayama
• Taking slow, deep breaths are helpful
• Avoid curd, banana, buttermilk, fried food, sour substances
• Baheda (Terminalia bellirica) powder with Honey
• Luke warm mustard oil massage on chest and back
• Decoction of Kantakari (Solanum surattens) with honey

12. Loss of appetite
• Take warm water
• Take warm and light food like Dalia, Khichadi
• Take meals in the correct time in appropriate quantity.
• Small pieces of ginger crushed and mixed with lime juice and rock salt may be
taken before having food.
• Amla (Embilica officianialis) powder mixed with pinch of salt before food
• Pudina leaves (Mint), lemon and black salt with water
• Home remedies may be used during recovery from illness or as adjuvant to any
other treatment.
