Advanced MCACC:
Eh... what is Advanced MCACC?
Advanced MCACC stands for ‘Advanced
Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System’.
This technology uses a special microphone
that measures the acoustical output of the
AV-receiver/speaker combination in your
room, and then tells your AV-receiver how
to cope with it.
Seems like hot stuff for people in white
coats, but is it any good for me too?
It most certainly is. The reason: your room
is making a mess of the music you play in it.
Even acoustically optimised rooms cannot
escape the effects of the so called ‘standing
waves’.

Standing Waves!?
Standing waves occur when the sound waves
from your speakers interfere with those
reflected off the walls, floor and ceiling. The
actual audible effects are especially
cumbersome in the bass and highly depend
on the place in the room where you listen.
I see. But since I have no golden ears, this is
hardly a problem for me, is it?
Imagine a musician playing different notes on
a bass with exactly the same loudness. Now,
imagine listening in your room to the same
piece of music, but now with huge volume
differences - like double or half the original
volume level or even worse! - between the
notes. Sounds like a serious problem, no?
Two little ducks facing the opposite direction?
Nope, those green things are actually areas in a
room where standing waves are messing with
your music...
