Edward Tylor (1871): Culture … is that complex whole which includes knowledge,
beliefs, arts, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by
man as a member of society.
Kroeber and Kluckhohn: Culture consists of patterns … of and for behaviour …
transmitted by symbols, constituting the distinctive achievement of human groups …
the essential core of culture consists of traditional … ideas and … their … values;

5. Paradigm
A paradigm is a set of rules and procedures (written and
unwritten) with two effects:
