1. Asia Young Peace Builder
Preparing the next generation of peace builders
Asia Young Peace Builder is the first internship program that aim to promote peace building in achieving development
goal in Cambodia. The three-month internship program is designed to create to a highly intensive peace and conflicts
experience for Sarus leaders and partner-organizations. Using their own authentic leadership styles with the support and
encouragement from local development organizations and Sarus staff interns apply peace-building techniques in creating
social impact. The interns, or Sarus Leaders, are selected through our network of alumni in four countries; Cambodia,
Vietnam, Myanmar and Bangladesh, and had been through one of Sarus’ proven successful leadership and peace building
exchange programs.
Internship Theme and Feature
Interns engage in or build a development
project using their skills and experience in
designing and implementing service project
during Sarus. The project should benefit
both the host organization and the
community they are working with.
Interns apply knowledge and experience in
Non-violent Communication (NVC) to foster
understanding and cooperation among
members of the host organization, between
organization and its community for achieving
organizations’ mission.
Interns act as a catalyst for changes
through researching, designing and
implementing products, service or methods
that improve the work of organizations and
develop community.
Interns bring diversity to the organization
and its community as potential in exploring
new knowledge, practices, culture and belief.

generation of future leaders to build a peaceful and
prosperous Southeast Asia.
Sarus has a proven record of success with three programs
linking university students from Cambodia, Vietnam,
Myanmar, and Bangladesh through service learning,
research, group living, study tours, and sports.

Cambodian non-profit organizations
Work base in Phnom Penh or has
headquarter in Phnom Penh
Work in either community development,
children and youth education, gender
equality or peace and conflict resolution
Interested in youth empowerment, peace
building and developing workforce for non-
profit/development sector
Have at least one staff that can
communicate and supervise intern in
English.
Commit to host and supervise at least one
