2. 11th Mid-Winter High School Classic Rules
1. This event will not be USBC or WI HSBC certified, but unless stated otherwise in the rules, all USBC
playing rules and standard Baker Format rules will apply during this tournament
2. More than one boys/coed team and one girls team per school or co-op may enter this event,
but only ONE team from a school may make the finals in either the boys/coed or girls divi-
sions. All teams must have the same roster that would be eligible to compete for their school/co-op during their
regular WI HSBC District competition. Coaches must provide a copy of their district roster for their team at check-
in.
3. A team may enter a maximum roster of SEVEN bowlers per team for this tournament.
Normal HSBC Dress Code Rules (matching shirts, no jeans, etc.) is in effect. Tournament Director will address any
emergency situations (shirts not in from printers, etc.) on a case by case basis.
Standard Baker substitution rules are in effect – once a bowler is replaced in a game, they may not return until the
next game. As a courtesy, coaches should notify the other coach on their pair of lanes to verify substitution is made
correctly. If a substitution is made incorrectly, a ZERO will be scored ONLY for the ball(s) thrown by the ineligible
substitute.
4. No practice pair(s) for this event! All bowlers will remain with their team on their assigned lane each game.
Coaches may send a player to “scout” an upcoming lane or opponent, but that “scout” player must remain in the
back of the settee area.
5. Entries close 12/27/18, unless the tournament reaches 16 paid entries in the boys/coed division and 8 in the girls
division. If tournament fills, teams will be placed on a waiting list.
6. Entry fee is $80/team. All fees are for bowling, tournament, award & livestream production expenses. Any
merchandise prizes are provided by sponsor agreement & are in FULL COMPLIANCE with USBC Rule 400.
7. Tournament Format – All competition is scratch. Qualifying will be 6 Baker games over 6 lanes.
Match Play Round – Pinfall DOES NOT carries over from qualifying - Teams will be assigned to
a match play bracket after qualifying – Byes will be given to higher qualifying teams in each bracket, if
needed. Bracket matches will be best 3 of 5 games, tie games are worth 1/2 game to each team. Each
bracket will be in a double elimination format. Higher seeded teams in each match have their choice of
starting lane for the match, and choice of starting lane for game 5, if necessary. The team that wins
each of the two boys/coed and girls brackets will advance to the finals.
Livestream Finals – Best 3 of 5 Game “Fast 5” Baker matches (similar to 6th-10th frame of a convention-
al Baker Game) . Both teams will bowl on a single lane for the entire match, teams alternate starting first each
game, higher qualifying team will have choice on starting first/going second the opening game. Tie games will be
1/2 game to each team.
Tournament Director reserves the right to change divisional or final formats due to the number of teams entered
in the event to preserve the integrity of the event for broadcast. Any format changes will be announced prior to
the start of competition.
