The film uses costumes, props, and lighting to develop conventions of crime thriller and forensic drama genres. Mis en scene elements like forensic suits and police tape create the illusion of investigating real crimes. Stylistic choices were informed by studying the British TV show "The Bill" as a model. While following conventions like keeping the killer's face hidden, the film also challenges norms with minimal dialogue and montage in its opening scene.

3. Comparisons to the usual convections…. We used style models from TV shows like ‘The Bill’ to gain an understanding of the conversions commonly used in crime thrillers. Also as ‘The Bill’ is class A British this also allowed us to keep our film to a class A British standard Close up’s of props connote the importance of it to the audience Forensic costumes set the scene for the audience The Bill Our film Hammer The Bill Our film Hammer
4. Lighting… We followed the conventions of typical crime-thriller by keeping the killers face covered so that the audience can emphasise with the police and not only enjoy the film but also try and come to their own conclusions. However we also challenged these conventions by having very little dialog in the opening and having a montage of short cuts that connote what is happening at the crime scene, this is supported with non-daigetic sound We added a sunburst effect to the video to enhance the effect of the street lights on the killer. This also adds to the suspense of the scene & mystery of the character
