January 1988
Chiron an industrial machine tool factory in Tuttlingen
as an Internationally based Service Engineer
2/8
3. I was responsible for the installation of industrial machine tool equipments as stand
alone units or as part of industrial transfer streets, it was common for me to work
entirely alone to perform on site construction of missing section as well as ad hok
interfacing to equipments from other manufacturers
I gained thorough knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and electrical grid
disturbance removal .My service area extended to the English-speaking countries
and Western Europe. I was responsible to optimize new products in the field. The
product of the company was only laboratory-tested and demonstrated in real-life
significant technical problems. I was able to significantly participate in the redesign
of the electronics. All changes have been resolved through practical modifications
directly on site. Several patented solutions developed in this period, for example,
"compensatory Free Tapping to M1.5 in soft aluminium at 2000 rpm" as well as
industrial EMI concepts that have been today accepted as international
standards.
January 1991,
Illness followed by a move to Mannheim;Seeking employment until June 1991
July 1991 SEL Mannheim, Defence and Aviation
Responsible for the development of (high-frequency technology) and completion of
a ldns “Lightweight Doppler Navigation System “ radar navigation system and a
radar system Ratac-S.
No further employment for lack of orders.” The cold war ended! “
Sept 1992
Start of retraining as a nurse at the Hospital of Mannheim.
Successful Examination in September 1996, Great experience, Made me a better
human being!
January 1997
Freelance work in electronics
I spent some time self employed developing remotely operated Radio Telescopes
connected in a network to act as synthetically linked large telescope consisting out of
many small units spread out over many hundreds of kilometres, here I perfected very
special experience in real time data handling in chaotic networks as well as
synchronization to Rubidium standards
December 2000
On behalf of the Universities of Manchester (GB), Leiden (Holland), Max Planck
Institute, Cologne, Karlsruhe acquisition of development projects:
Design, manufacture, installation of equipment of radio astronomy in the frequency

frequency technology of radio astronomy in Karlsruhe, Köln and Manchester.
Development of CCD Camera systems at the Max Plank Institute for Astronomy
Heidelberg.

Employed by the Engineering Company IKS Mannheim as a Consultant Engineer
serving many customers with the experience of a Senior design engineer
Customer References :
Teldix/ Rockwell Collins
Redesign of several avionics computers for the Euro Fighter / Typhoon and

microscope system using laser light sources and single photon detection by
photomultipliers and the subsequent image processing in raster scan mode.
Leica,
CMOS-based design of a camera module for microscopy with true colour
reproduction on an LCD monitor (not possible to date)
Bombardier,
The overall system diagnosis of "real life" data transmission problems in extremely
polluted EMC environment with practical problem solving of complete locomotive
train Scenarios with safety relevant issues in public transport.
Sensus,
Design of ISM band, fully electronic water meter transponder systems for using
radio frequency communications in a grid based communications system
Special highlight the extreme life of a single unit, using a system designed
with a single lithium ion battery potted module, which should have a 10 year life
cycle , to be replaced later as a disposable unit.
Here a special patented method was develops using magnetic fields to detect the
water flow. Special technologies were also developed to monitor and control gas
water and electricity supply in a network subject today of special importance

5. EADS,
Design and construction of high-voltage space Qualified power supply's for an ion
engine thruster "HEMP". This is a completely new technology for thrust of
Spacecraft in space generating a plasma with an electric drive using neon gas as a
carrier the positively charged clod behind the spacecraft must then be Neutralized by
a negatively charged thrust .
After the construction of the thruster I was also responsible for the design and
manufacture of the ground support test equipment needed by ESTEC at Noordwijk
in the Netherlands at ESA and EADS in Ulm.
Bombardier,
Design of a system called PRIMOVE which is a power transmission system which
transmits from a special under the tarmac system up to 800kw of energy the a
pick-up under a bus or tram to provide total power supply from a city grid system to
power public transport. The system I also responsible for the complete drive chain
design and manufacture the prototype being finished and will be shown at the IAA
in September 2012 I have gained here very specialist experience in high power
energy conversion systems which will form the basis for the future of road public
transport systems world wide today in development, very few people have
experience in this field as most energy has been concentrated on car systems with
much much lower power requirements , in the electrically powered city of tomorrow
the challenge will be to get energy to the part of the grid where it is needed, using
intelligent web based commanding of grid based resources like energy storage units
like park electro cars as well as gas based generators solar and wind systems.
January 2001 till today
Formation of the company Eye Technology Europe and Step into Freelancing.
Motto: “ We see things other do not”
My Obvious success with projects as an employee motivated me into this next level
of confidence, as an employee there were too many restrictions placed on me, main
point of conflict was my employer was constantly making me slow down to so
stretch the project as long as possible in his financial interests. Today I have A
wonderful new mode of operation , I have the official project which is time critical
and numerous other small projects which I am able to complete when the main
project has its natural slow periods , like purchasing and delivery lead times. So its
possible to have a much larger impact of help and support by my customers. In
general the freedom of being ones own boss has paid off to the full.
Projects
TE Connectivity Speyer
I was responsible as a Senior design engineer to support a team which was having
massive problems in a time critical development of new battery charging circuits
for a customer in the auto mobile industry. Through lack of experience and
complexity of the circuitry as well as conformity and acceptance testing , they
needed help from an expert. As this technology is new my first job was to design
and build bench test equipment to run and test the developed circuits in a safe
5/8
6. environment. It was this safety aspect that got me in as a critical situation was
developing with lab conditions. It was so possible to immediately start building
hardware ad hock and to listen to the engineers in the team to add important features
that were not known at the time of design, in fact they were very surprised indeed
that I was building hardware first and remembering the entire schematics in my head
to be later documented , after this basic milestone I went on to help the team with
major problems in the original design as only an experienced engineer can ! This
went on to the next stage of needing specialist life test and isolation testing
equipments , I basically built anything that was needed with the support of a very
well qualified mechanical engineer who let me use his equipment, this made only
specialist assistance from him when needed, it was this mutual respect for each other
that speeded up the construction work dramatically.
As the project went into production I designed and built alone the production grade
test and QC equipment. So as to have me on site I was asked to design and build for
another department a special test bed for the development of high speed angular
sensors . So a machine was designed and built having a rotational speed of
45,000rpm a DUT Mass of 1 Kg and real time angular resolution of under 0.5
arc/sec the test bed used air bearing technology and FPGA Based Interfacing to the
Renishaw absolute encoder ring, the test bed is unique and the basis for new product
development.
Government project in Eindhofen Holland
Retrofitting is the art of taking something expensive where the electronics and some
mechanics are end of life and it is worth it to overhaul the unit changing by
modernizing a large portion of the device to so bring it up to modern day standards
at a fraction of the price replacement would cost , also today some technology is no
longer manufactured meaning that retrofitting is the only solution! The problem
usually is finding an engineer willing to take on such a task.
A Cyclotron high energy Generator manufactured in the 1960,s the electronics
were end of life and the spair parts stockpiled were depleted meaning that
retrofitting was the only option. I evaluated the entire system and split it up into
sensors and Cyclotron parts to be kept. I completely redesigned the control and
monitoring electronics using a mixture of off the shelf and build on site units, , I
stripped the machine down upgraded the Vacuum seal,s and some technology for
high Vacuum, Oil Diffusion pump, Turbo molecular pump. I replaced or overhauled
numerous sensors so keeping costs down to a minimum. I implemented new
features that the team had been wishing for decades.
