Project Runway: How to Truly “Model” Your Best Leadership
Drew Dudley, Founder & Chief
Catalyst of Nuance Leadership, Inc.
If the runway is where designers translate their fashion visions into reality, your daily life (both at home and
at work) is where your leadership values are modeled for everyone around you: co-workers, employees,
friends, even your children. In other words, life is a daily catwalk on which you demonstrate what you really
stand for. Like a model on a fashion runway, when you’re a leader, all eyes are on you. But have you ever
taken a moment to ask yourself, “if someone sat in the front row of my life, watching how I behaved on a day-
to-day basis, what kind of values would they assume are most important to me?”
Are you really “making it work” when it comes to modeling your leadership values? This session will challenge
you to ask whether your planning embodies the values most important to you, or simply hoping to do so. It will
lay out a process to ensure your daily behavior is consistent with the leadership vision you have for yourself,
and allow some of your colleagues to model how they have done just that over the past few weeks.
Objectives:
• Learn the importance of having a personal leadership philosophy
• Learn what leadership research has shown are the most effective practices for consistently delivering
top results
• Identify the primary leadership values they wish to embody everyday
• Learn the process of “operationalizing leadership values” to ensure their behavior is consistent with
their personal leadership philosophy
Drew Dudley is the former Director of one of North America’s largest university leadership development programs.
A sought-after speaker on creating cultures of leadership within organizations, he has been invited to lecture for
some of the world’s most dynamic organizations, including JP Morgan Chase, McDonald’s, Dreamworks, and over 75
colleges and universities. He has been featured on Radio America, the Huffington Post, Forbes.com, and on the main
page of TED.com, where his “TED talk” has been voted one of the “20 Most Inspirational Talks of All-Time”.

In other words, life is a daily catwalk on which you demonstrate what you really stand for. Like a model on a fashion runway, when you’re a leader, all eyes are on you. This session will challenge you to ask whether your planning embodies the values most important to you, or simply hoping to do so.
