Design an enquiry form • When do they want it? • Are they the decision maker? • Have they got a budget? • Who owns the building? • How many PCSO’s bidding? • Is the site ready for survey? • What access is needed to survey, who pays for any specialised access? • Site specific hazards / PPE required? Getting Paid • Will they pay for survey? • Deposit? • Payment terms? • Who’s T.O.B. yours / theirs? • Client Retentions? • Where to send invoice? Never Assume…..Always Ask! To assume makes an ASS out of U & ME
- 5. Before you jump in the car • Could you give an indicative costing from Google Earth? • Can customer send own images? • Have you got all the necessary survey kit to do a proper job? • Can surveys be grouped together to save on time and fuel cost?

Conducting The Survey • Look The Part – PPE, Survey Equipment, Access Equipment • Measure, don’t guess! • Make detailed notes for job bag take lots of photos. • Look for other areas on clients building that could be affected. • Look for opportunities on neighbouring structures. • Get the quote out within 3 working days

Getting The Job Done On Time & Within Budget • Get materials ordered in good time. • Don’t rely on couriers • Get access on site day before • Allow for daylight • Allow for weather • Allow for a margin of error • Is work area complete / ready • Are other trades working in work area • Get client sign off • Get pictures of completed job
- 8. Avoid selling tombstones • Think about adding value • Create recurring revenue streams
- 9. • Sell Bi-Annual / Annual Maintenance Inspections • Sell emergency call out / repair service • Sell an extended warranty • Leave an “Installed By” plaque or sticker • Ask for a reference • Offer a rebate and/or discount for referrals Adding Value Creates Revenue
